2013 Ford Mondeo leaked ahead of Detroit debut

The all-new Ford Fusion has been leaked online ahead of its global unveiling at this week’s 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The handsome mid-sized sedan is the latest vehicle developed under the global One Ford strategy, in which one basic design per vehicle type is sold around the world. The new Fusion will be renamed Mondeo for Europe and Australia, and will replace the current model in local showrooms in 2013.

The two images of the red car (leaked by Czech website Auto Forum) reveal a design heavily influenced by the Ford Evos concept from last year’s Frankfurt motor show.

The overall appearance is more purposeful and athletic than the model it replaces. A long, contoured bonnet backs pointed, aggressive headlights, which flank an Aston Martin-esque grille.

An image from the official Ford Fusion iPhone/iPad application that accidently leaked a few hours earlier confirms the two red images give an accurate impression of the upcoming car.

Ford is expected to reveal more details of the 2013 Ford Fusion/Mondeo within the next 24 hours. Stay tuned to CarAdvice’s coverage live from the motor show in Detroit.
