2013 Nissan Pathfinder previewed in concept images

By Tim Beissmann |

The exterior styling of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder has been previewed just days out from the unveiling of the Pathfinder concept vehicle at next week’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Two teaser images reveal the front and rear styling of the Nissan Pathfinder concept. The Detroit show car is expected to give an accurate impression of the production model, which is set to go on sale overseas later this year before hitting Australian showrooms in 2013.

The Pathfinder’s new face is simpler, more elegant and decidedly more upmarket. The pointed headlights and trapezoidal grille are somewhat reminiscent of the Lexus RX luxury SUV.

The boxy rear-end of the current model makes way for a rounder rump, with a less prominent bumper and more car-like taillights, replacing the old vertical fixtures.

The fresh front and rear designs work well with the Pathfinder’s new flowing side profile that was teased late last year.

Stay tuned for the full details of the Nissan Pathfinder concept from the Detroit motor show early next week.

I wonder if it will also be the face of the next gen Navara???

Unlikely, as the new Pathfinder is a monocoque chasis and stepping away from the Navara framework.

Left lane news has an article on it and it’s all bad news . It’s just going to be a XL version of the Murano right down to the front wheel drive and no 2speed transfer box

bad news for you,but maybe good news for nissan.they still have 2 different patrols to tow  a caravan,go offroad etc.murano is one of their best quality cars, but only having 5 seats limits its appeal. nissan is going after kluger, territory etc, where the volume is.it must keep the 2.5 diesel in the lineup though…

Pretty sure Murano is at least constant AWD, and would think the new Pathy would at least get the X-Trail All-Mode system.

It’s difficult to see the cut out properly but it appears they have finally done away with the straight up and down rear gate which didn’t look right.

You would expect that the fornt end will be giving some styling clues to the next gen Navara.  Maybe they’ll be two different designs though and not the pathfinder being designed off the ute like the current one is?

If there’s any truth to left lane news’s article on the pathfinder it will have nothing in common with the navara instead it will be a larger version of the murano
