as the prodigal son hey? I think Reckless is closer to the mark, Tom Walkinshaw is a well known ball buster, they probably had an argument about something and uncle Tom told him to back his bags.

It’s happened a number of times before, when Tom Walkinshaw is involved, any time someone leaves unexpectedly you can be guaranteed it’s a sacking. I wouldn’t want to work for him!

The bulk of Scott Grant’s industry experience was built from his time at Toyota. He started there in the late 80’s and worked his way up from the Parts area to executive level where he was seen as the golden child.

He really has no business running a performance division, and his own personality is so far removed from the psyche of the typical HSV buyer, that it’s no surprise he’s out of there in such a hurry.

I suspect he’ll be back at Toyota soon, and he will have put this behind him as a necessary stepping stone to broaden his industry experience before returning as the prodigal son.

You have to wonder why a CEO who was at the helm for such a short time, and during continued sales growth, would vacate his position without notice while Walkinshaw is in town.

There is little doubt that it’s unrelated to job performance, so it must be a personal issue between Walkinshaw and him.

With his experience at HSV, he might incorporate some HSV ideas into TRD. A 4.7L quad cam Aurion anybody? Prob still be FWD though…

Perhaps an abandon ship move? Although if i was him, i’d be chasing the money too.
