Lexus LF-Lc sports car concept leaked: the new SC430?

A US car magazine has spoiled a drip-feed media campaign by Lexus by accidentally revealing the Japanese luxury brand's new sports car concept before its debut at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in January.

Lexus has already separately released two teaser images of its new concept, but Road & Track magazine published images of the LF-Lc on its YouTube page as well as featuring the car on its promoted front cover.

The Flash-Gordon-style headlights of the LF-Lc were revealed in one of Lexus's official images (below) but Road & Track's slip-up affords a full view of the sleek, low-slung coupe show car.

The dominated, aggressive-looking single-piece grille carries on a design cue from the LF-Gh, Lexus's concept preview of the GS sedan.

Lexus has used the LF prefix for all of its concepts since 2003, though the Lc part is more puzzling.

In Lexus tradition the capital letter L would signify this would be related somehow to the LS limousine, though it seems more likely this could be a precursor to a next-generation Lexus SC430.

Lexus could certainly do with a more affordable sports car, or coupe-convertible as in the original SC's case (pictured above), than its LFA flagship, which costs more than $750,000.

CarAdvice will be at the 2012 North American International Auto Show - also known less formally as the Detroit motor show - on January 9th to bring you more details on the Lexus LS-Lc concept.
