I have had a second hand 2007 XLT Ranger Manual 4WD for a few months now and have noticed a the following. The first is the light clutch. This is very evident when we tow a caravan about 1650 kgs.The travel before "take up" seems excessive but the Ford dealer tells me this is standard.
The second is the gear ratio of reverse, its too high particularly when reversing the van.Even in 4WD Low range it is to high and would be better to be a lower ratio.
The finsih of the vehicle is good and at three years old still looks like new even after 55000ks It is not hard to do a basic service and the genuine filters are reasonable in price.
The rear seat room (crew cab) is limited. The addition of child seats is a bit of chore in both fitting and removing. The rear seat back is verticalmaking it hard to get behind and adjust the restraints. But it is a workhorse not a city car and is made to carry a big load which it does well.
Would I buy another now knowing what I know the short answer is yes.

2007 Ranger XLT soon to be launched in Malaysia. Will be the most powerful 2.5 diesel in the market. Hope ford has addressed seating comfort for rear passengers. Previous model lacks rear legroom & back support too upright. Competitiion from isuzu and toyota has good comfort for rear passenger. Looking forward to see it in the metal. Any photos available from australia / thailand?
