A relative bargain compared to the less powerful Chermans. Sadly Dinosaurs – otherwise knows as badge snobs, will think the uglier, older, 25K more expensive 335i will be better. Ive sat in both and I can agree with Caradvice when they say the Beemer is not better.
Actually it isnt the first sub 6 second volvo, the 2003 (and following) s60R was claimed to do 0 – 100 in about 5.7 seconds (manual) but about 7 in the auto, with the v70R claimed to achieve 5.9. In reality I understand that this was acheived in very cold temps which helped the boost. This one is probably quicker in real driving conditions, and also has no manual. They are a hell of a lot of fun to drive hard, my only complaint is the turning circle.
why did you put all that extra power in and not do anything about the suspension and brakes?
is it so that it can accelerate faster so that it can ram into a tree/pole when it tries to turn corner?
It has firmer suspension and springs. Only Australia gets it.
Passat CC 3.6 and Lexus IS350 is both faster than this Volvo in 0-100 km/h.
And a both less practical and older.
This is still pretty hectic though – good sleeper.
Looks pretty awesome. Great Q car in black. However I must say that for a fair bit less dough, you could have turbocharged straight 6 sedan in the form of a G6E Turbo. That said, the Volvo is a bit more special than a Falcon.
Why Nick?I knew someone would bring up a comparison like dat..SMH
Hey at least he didn’t go “Why would anyone ever buy ANYTHING but a Turbo Falcon” and then ramble on about how it’s the only car in the world. That’s probably the most sensible and balanced comment I’ve ever heard someone say on here in reference to comparing our local taxi to the foreign offerings.
For people who are interested in this type of car, are they only interested in the power? What about bells and whistles? Or as long as the car comes with four wheels, a steering wheel, a brake and most importantly, the gas pedal, then they will buy it?
That ugly centre alloy console I bet will be blinding here in Oz.Might be ok in dull and grey Sweden but forget it here .They should have beefed up the brakes. But its good that Volvo are trying.Do the chinese own them now?
The floating center console is pretty neat, and it had been one of the selling points for volvo since xc60 and c30. I agree that the brakes should be beefed up a bit, with that much power and toque you would think they would at least do something on the brakes so u could at least stop in time.
And yes, volvos are owned by the chinese but that doesn’t necessary the car will start falling apart. Infact in my opinion it will only get better as it has to compete with other rivals brands.
I got delivery of my unit last Monday, Black. Looks mean and go’s like rocket. A great car with all the luxary and gadgets on board. Better value than a BMW or Audi. My number is 04.
I sat in one of this. Very impressive and refreshing interior comparing to the boring 3, C and A4.
