    The interior is super ugly and looks cheap.Why would anyone spend $4ok on this mess. No wonder their only forecasting shifting 600 of these ugly ducklings.Looks a bit better in white but still, hell no..SMH!

      Yer and then the power does not repair the love lost from the looks. Best bet if you want a hybird to buy the prius 2012 wth 100KW alot better looks. Or better still for 44k get hybrid camry 2012 with 152KW.

    I personally really like its interior exterior, although at this price you could get a larger/more efficient Prius if you’re after an eco car, or a Mini/A1/DS3 if you’re after something sporty. That said i think it blends things well, according to Fuelly.com the majority of them get about 6.0l/100km in real world which is still pretty decent.

    Interior looks all over the place with vents, screens and dials placed everywhere at all sorts of angles. Exterior is just as ugly. Honda need to lift their game and design cars that people desire to own. The Honda spirit is gone, they are now just as bland as Toyota.

    I understand that you don’t need high speed or big power to make a car sporty, as proved by the MX5 and Lotuses, but 9.7 seconds to 100km/h is pretty bad for any small car these days, especially one assisted by a battery. It could have been so much more…

      That official 9.7s figure is based on Normal driving mode. There are numerous sources from European and American sites that quote around 8.5-8.7 seconds figures on Sports mode.

    You mustn’t remember your review on the Mini D where you pretty much said the same thing.
    In fact in your review of the Golf Bluemotion and Fiesta Econetic they were described as being fun to drive too. Yet this was years ago and these cars lower Co2 figures than this CRZ.
    I guess you haven’t driven a Tesla either or don’t think a 3.9 sec run to 100kmh would be fun?

    Yet this CRZ is something “new” in that it can “genuinely put some fun into environmentally friendly motoring.”

    thanks for the test, I’ve beem looking forward to this car but really, its NO modern CRX, and sticking occassional rear seats in it is just plain pointless. We all know it was designed as a two seater, they should have left them out and dropped the price. In any case it seems that as good looking as it is, it’ll not make my buying list. Maybe if it had a 1.8 hybred? looks like Scirroco gets the nod unless of course they build that Ford coupe. Lets just consider hybreds for a sec, real life they don’t seem to offer any more fuel economy than the state of the art modern engines coming out. Another pointless thing.

    This is aimed at young professional women and the ” hairdresser” crowd that wants to be a bit different and I think it will sell to that niche reasonably well given it’s unique characteristics…will not appeal to people comparing it with the old CRX or the VW GTI models and such..

    Love reading about anything Honda on this site. You can always count on the regular knockers. Wouldn’t matter what Honda did. Love to know how many of you actually have driven the thing? I haven’t yet, but will definitely test drive it. Love the front, not sure of the back, but does look good side on.

    I think this car will do better than you give it credit for. from what I read it ain’t trying to be. GTi, so why compare it?

    As for the Veloster? I prefer Japanese.

      Um, because it is priced like one? Not to mention the fact that they are touting it as sporty.

      Honestly this car makes no sense at all. I’ve driven one of these, and you can get something faster, more economical, better to drive and better looking for the same or less.

      For the money, a Mini Cooper D would be a much better choice.

    with DSG gearbox…
    Engine is normal power .. Battery makes car heavy

      Who cares about the CVT, Buy the Manual.!! Honda really should of made this with the 2.0l Type R VTEC engine for countries like OZ where we would prefer more performance, rather than just excellent fuel consumption.

    The VW Golf TDI or GTD looks like a normal car, drives better than this car and is more fuel efficient than this car.

    Lots of negatives and not many positives. Prospective buyers should have a good think before signing on the dotted line. If you LOVE the looks, then do it but if you are doing it for any other reason, stop !

    Boys, boys, boys. Not every car on earth has to suit you. It doesn’t have to be ‘fast’, it doesn’t have to be a sports car that races off at the lights. As a woman, I want a car that looks good, drives to MY requirements which are different to what you are looking for. As a woman I class ths car as sporty – nothing to do with speed, but all to do with looks.

    I love it. I can see myself driving around in this quite easily! I am so excited, and I also think the mini (who wants to drive a square on wheels), and the veloster, from what I’ve seen are ugly. And Pauly I wouldn’t buy a Hyundai, full stop. They haven’t been making good cars long enough for me to hand over my $$$. I still remember the sh@@-box Excel I had as my first car. They may have moved on, but it will take a few more years of proof before I ever buy one again.

    Thanks Honda for bringing out something that suits us single women for a change, other than the Jazz, which really doesn’t make any kind of statement other than ‘practical’.

    If it turns out to appeal to us girls more than you guys, then so what! Cars are not only for blokes.

    Alex, I can’t see one thing I DON’T LIKE about the car. I have to wait 3 weeks before I can drive one, but I am really looking forward to it.

      That’s nice. But it still doesn’t change the fact that it’s being marketed as a sports car, when it is very clearly nothing of the sort. It’s also 10 grand over-priced, minimum.

    Drove the CR-Z on the weekend….not a bad car actually, it’s “different” in a nice way. The only problem is the price….ridiculously expensive. For the same price as the base model you can get a Polo GTi. Or for $5k less you can get the Audi A1. Even the salesman told me he wished Honda had a lower price on it because he received lots of interest in the last 48hrs, he would have sold few already but people were just put off when they found out the price.

      Yep, totally agree that the price is ridiculous, yet again. However, A1 being 29,900k rrp is one of the biggest scam in recent automotive history lol! Went to 5 different dealerships and no one had the car in that basic config… they are mostly selling configs that are about 39k rrp once you include air conditioning, leather, alloys and radio.

    I think this car could have easily been Honda’s new hot hatch if they simply forget about the hybrid system and installed the K20 engine in it. It would have been the proud successor to the CR-Z in more ways that just its shape.

      K-Pop, I completely agree with you regarding dropping K20 in. However, I think a lot of us miss the point that this is more so about meeting Government emission laws rather than becoming the ‘green’ car manufacturer. And because of this, K20 will sadly cease production :-(

      Honda is betting on IMA instead of turbocharging… it will be interesting what the future holds.

    The CR-Z wants to be two cars in one, but misses out on both ends. It’s neither a sports car nor a miserly one. The dash is also quite messy. As the Koreans head for the right direction, it seems that Honda is going the other way.

    For the money, there are simply a lot of better alternatives, but not Golf GTD as it costs about 10K or so more.

    Looks like Tarzan, reportedly goes like Jane!!!  If they can fit another 100Kw into a Type R version I might be interested, otherwise not even worth the Test Drive.

    They need to add manual to the lux version. This would likely clash with the CVT sport model in the pricing line up though. The whole point of this car is “fun to drive” and the hybrid mixed with the manual box was what made it stand apart.
