Ford has added another Econetic car to the range, the new Fiesta.

Econetic is a term the blue oval is using for cars that emit under 120g CO2/km and achieving about 3.7L/100km.

The engines behind the car are built in Dagenham and come in the form of 1.6-litre and 1.4-litre TDCi.
“They will see new Fiesta, with sporty Zetec-S and frugal ECOnetic variants on the stand. Many will pass our wind-powered Dagenham plant on the way, where annual production will top 1,000,000 engines this year in response to the shift to eco friendly models.”said Roelant de Waard, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director.

Ford Europe has stepped up its quest for eco-friendly cars, so much so that their engine building facility is, partially powered by wind!

The car sounds good, but I wouldn’t drive one with that BS CO2 sticker on the side - probably get egged.

Good looking and more frugal than a Prius for around half the price!

Please tell me Australia will get the 1.4L diesel. This looks like it will be a great car.
Also I hope Ford has pumped up the Fiesta’s safety from 4 to 5 stars.

This pollutes less than the Toyota PriFARCE and goes further on a litre. How pathetic does that make the green farce now?
