I am dissapointed that FO tried to bring Toyota into the blog. Again. Fair dinkum. Is Toyota hiring ppl to make these comments to give some cred to the zzzzz modes of transport they choose to call cars? Can we have at least one story on this site without someone needing to mention that whitegoods company? Please…. Toyota dont even come close to making anything with this much soul….

Stunning! It’s only a matter of time until we see photos of “Bumblebee” copies driving on American streets :D. I’m not too sure about the tail lights but apart from that I think it’s great and to top that off, it was built in Australia!!!

I would certainly buy one if they decide to sell them here!!

A true Camaro, the only true Camaro since the 67-69 models!

I’m sick of Mustangs on the road here, novelty wore off after the 100th one I saw in a day.

This would be the same in about a years time, atleast its better looking.

Is it me or does the design seem to be dated already? Don’t get me wrong its a nice looking car but I think with the concept being revealed almost 2 years ago its not exactly fresh.

To those who say V8’s are going out. They said that 30 years ago with the last energy crisis. Heck they still make V10s and V12s and what about W16s. There will always be a market for muscle cars

There is talk of a slight cosmetic upgrade coming before christmas with the D.O.D and possibly the direct injection V6. The cosmetic upgrade may include relocation of side indicators to the wing mirrors and tweaks to the Taillights although I expect the latter to be more likely VF which a little birdy told me could be prior to Christmas 2009. With the fact that the current Commodore Generation lasting 6 years compared to the VT-VZ going for 8 years from 1998 to 2006. It makes sense that going on the same basis that Holden has had in the past for example on average there were 4 models in that 8 year period VT, VX, VY and VZ that in the 6 years of the current generation that instead of having 3 models on a average of 1 every 2 years Holden have 2 models with 3 year life span. That would make it 2009 for the new model. Having only 2 models in 6 years would help costwise as any major changes are limited to 2 instead of 3 and any minor upgrades could be handled as is curretly happening with the Commodore in the idea of a MY07, MY08 and MY09.

Gift-Ed, don’t necessarily assume that the turbo will use less fuel, by laboring the big car on a smaller engine.

This can be considered a preview as to what the series 2 VE, or VF commodore will give us.

A 10L/100km direct injection 6 speed auto, 225kw 6 cylinder engine. Now that sounds impressive.

The Holden v8’s will be bumped up to the 6.2L L99 with the DOD. We have already seen the LS3 performance range in our HSV’s.

Oh and GM, Sell the Camaro here! It might be the closest thing we get to a new Monaro.

I love this car. Have done ever since the first concept was unveiled. With further developed VE underpinnings it should handle as well as it goes.

I wonder how long the rumoured 4cyl turbo will take to appear if petrol prices keep skyrocketing…

Great to see the Aussies getting their kudos. Holden are really getting a lot of respect in the GM world.

Senator, a series 2 VE is very unlikely given the constant running changes being introduced. The intro of the current spec VE in Sportwagon form ensures the next major upgrade will be the VF – like Richo says, with major powertrain updates. It’s a shame, the Commodore is so good in other ways, it really deserves the best drivetrain they could put in it.

O this is not the proto, this is obviously the reveal of the actual production car model to be released in the USA. The concept or proto was released in the melbourne international motor show a few years back.

Richo when do u rkn series 2 will come out? (september?)
Possibility of the new L99, being released in the VE?. Which is in the new camoro which has active fuel mangement(299KW 536NM) as oppossed to their top of the line LS3 at 315kw and 555Nm.

Front looks awesome, rear looks shocking. Tail-lights look wrong, like they’re part of a dodgy body kit someones put on an Integra. I also dont like how you can see the rear mufflers, much like on the pre-update Focus… Does anyone know wait details…..?

i like it that holden has recieved recognition.
I rreckon this is a poroto though and not a final as on the US pic the rear lights are boht red.ALso everyonewho keeps on sayong that gm is bleeding money with this remember it is based on the VE which means huge cost savings,R&D and engineerign.lik what vw does with all of ts models.

Skybreak – displacement on demand for the V8’s will hit commodores later this year. Direct injection will land in the VF upgrade in 2009 along with a 6 speed auto

Only 300HP from GM’s DI HF V6 though?

Holden has never said when the VE will get DI.

I like the camaro and it should handle like a 2 door VE, nothing wrong with that.
