Daihatsu FC ShoCase, PICO, D-X, Mira e:S concepts set for Tokyo show

Daihatsu is preparing four new concepts for the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show at the end of this month. The FC ShoCase, the PICO, the D-X, and the Mira e:S concepts will all exhibit dramatic designs and features on the Daihatsu stand.

First up is the Daihatsu FC ShoCase. The design is a little bit like a shoebox, although some have also likened it to a toaster.

It's actually a very interesting minivan concept with a fold-out exterior and fold-up interior that creates a modern camper layout. Underneath it all, there's a next-generation liquid fuel cell powertrain that has been designed, specifically, without the use of precious metals like platinum.

Next up is the Daihatsu PICO Concept. The PICO is a fully electric two-seat vehicle which Daihatsu says is "positioned between light automobiles and motorised bicycles". It features a completely flat floor to make getting in and out easy and single beam 'doors'. Daihatsu says the PICO is suited to "the ageing population, regional locations and delivery businesses".

Providing something for sports car enthusiasts is the Daihatsu D-X Concept (pronounced 'D Cross'). It features a compact resin body showcasing a chunky, almost beach-buggy, two-tone theme. Power is supplied by a turbocharged two-cylinder engine with direct injection. Daihatsu says the D-X is a concept that "can be used in ordinary or extraordinary ways" offering a "balance between the joy of driving and fuel-efficiency".

Lastly is the Daihatsu Mira e:S Concept. Daihatsu is yet to reveal any details on the concept, only saying that it will be presented in a special sky blue colour scheme.

All four concepts will be on show at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show in Japan commencing November 30.
