The friendly duo from Sesame Street have paired up with satellite navigation guru TomTom to produce a Bert & Ernie sat-nav application with the voices of the two characters.

In collaboration with Sesame Workshop and Locutio Voice Technologies, the TomTom uses the voices of Bert and Ernie for guidance instructions. Instead of the usual, rather sterile voice commands on sat-nav systems, Bert and Ernie take a bit more relaxed and friendly attitude to commands.

With Christmas coming up, it could be a fun idea for the kids during long holiday road trips. A recent announcement from the companies behind the application said,

“The friends deliver navigation instructions together and enjoy fun banter such as: “U-turn ahead, Bert. Just me turn? All of us Bert.”“

The Bert & Ernie voice application can be downloaded internationally from the TomTom website, for around $12.50 (rubber duckie not included).
