well thats how likely Toyota will sell a “sports car” with the specs you wanted.

Hence one reason they dont have a sports car at the moment, conflicting market interests…

The 3.5 liter V6 engine from Toyota, also has a variant used for the IS350 is actually a real good base engine for a sports car, so I do agree…

but 39K price range? hehe, I dont think so.. maybe here in the states. In Oz, any sports car with a spec close to that is automatically 65K+

And someone mentioned the XR6 turbo doing 5.2 second 0-100. Its not really hard to crank out a sub 5 second 0-100 with engines that capacity. And driving a Lotus as opposed to a Ford… well, if money wasnt an issue, no one would be considering the Ford.. driving wise… the XR6 is a good sports/sedan… so nothing to take away from that.

That your measure of performance-equality is based on a 0-100 time speaks volumes for your knowledge of cars and driving…

Anyway, I think the Ethos(?) will be a bit quicker than 5.2 for 0-100 anyway. More like 4.8-4.9.

Toyota should use that same engine and bring out a new sports car (perhaps revive the old ‘Supra’ name). Price it at $39K or less and it should sell well.

I’m not really sure what it’s trying to be

If its going to be a all-out elise type track car. Why the rear seats?

If its going to be a GT style car, why the small size?

The engine isn’t really overly powerful, so it can’t be heavy.

I thought this was going to be more of a esprit, than a europa…

That looks pretty good. Too bad lotus are so expensive. In these high petrol times, they would make a nice fuel efficient alternative to other generally higher powered, heavier cars.
