Ps. Forgot to say, I really race it, I hold the gears in the auto, take it through to 5000 rpm, it doesn't use any oil, and the gears till change smoother than my mothers brand new comodore, how is that even possible? How can a 17 year old 300,000km car still have that much power and still be so smooth and in the noisy city I think it may even be quiter than my friends lexus, it feels it, I thought cars from america were supposed to be crap, but this one shocks me in a good way. I paid $3,500 for a car that has leather and fits in perfectly at the polo gatherings, now that is an amazing trick.

I bought a 1994 Cherokee Limited with 285,000 kms as a second car in December last year. Nothing has gone wrong, I can't believe that a car that is now up to 295,000 still drives so well. I live in Sydney city, it is so compact to park, a full 1 metre shorter than my ford courier, also even shorter than a Toyota Camry or Toyota Rav 4. Has a great turning circle, seats are fantasticly snug and comfortable and supportive, realiable, quite inside, paint work still good. Engine and gear box still amazing, nothing wrong with it, I race round Sydney as a builder, driving all day and it sits on 2100 rmp at 110km on the free way, its stable and quite, and I storm trooper my way down the free way to my farm near Canberra, never misses a beat, and feels so safe as a hyway car. Incredably impress, so I bought a new cherokee limited today and hope it will be as brilliant as my current one.

I have a MY2005 Cherokee Renegade, had it for 4 years and I love it. It is brilliant. Take it off road, tow a boat, etc. Done nearly 150000 kms, drive it every day. I have cracked the radiator off roading and have blown a speaker, just general wear and tear on a vehicle, nothing really serious. It can be a more expensive to repair, but it is an imported vehicle and a 4x4, so I expected that when I bought it. Don't get me wrong though, it's not prohibitively expensive for anything I've had done. It's thirsty on the petrol, but that is to be expected for a heavy off road vehicle so once again no illusions with that. Overall I am very happy with my Jeep and I am not thinking of replacing it any time soon.

Sounds to me like Gilda C had a bad experience with her dealer, tainting her view of the vehicle. I mean, "Type 42" error? That's not a problem with the vehicle. And sometimes cars get recalled to fix things, that's not just a Jeep thing. As for the guy who says paint signs and sit out the front of the dealer? Are you serious, you need a hobby, you don't even own a Jeep. And the guy who starts his rant with "Every car I'd owned was a complete lemon...". Every car? Really?

Here's some advice, take some of these complaints with a grain of salt.

At Jeep it’s $720 for the ACTUATOR plus $180 labour for a part that locks down when it fails.
My tailgate lock actuator on KJ 2004 Cherokee Renegade 3.7L (first on road ’05) failed 6 months out of warranty & six months after i bought it.
Somehow Jeep know how to open the tailgate for a $900 fix.
To Chris – maybe your guys at Mt.Gravatt or Albion would advise you how they get the tailgate open and you could help me.
It appears the actuator locks down in a “childsafe” type of function.I need to see an actuator or find a switch which reverses the “lockdown”.
The finest mechanics can’t open the tailgate, even though it has a doorhandle and accessible latch.
This is not acceptable.
You can’t work the lock open after even 2 hours of labour or even remove the actuator – so you can’t disable it without seeing how it functions.Jeep have got you.
Can anybody help me??

Try this one Andrew:
At Jeep it’s $720 for the assembly (actuator) plus $180 labour for a part that locks down when it fails.
My tailgate lock actuator on KJ 2004 Cherokee Renegade 3.7L (first on road '05) failed 6 months out of warranty & six months after i bought it.
To Chris - maybe your guys at Mt.Gravatt or Albion would advise you how they get the tailgate open and you could help me.I could even drive there.
It appears the actuator locks down in a “childsafe” type of function.I need to see an actuator or find a dash switch which reverses the “lockdown”.
The finest mechanics can’t open the tailgate, even though it has a doorhandle and accessible latch.
You can’t work the lock open after even 3 hours of labour or even remove the actuator – so you can’t disable it without seeing how it functions.Jeep have got you.
But somehow Jeep know how to open the tailgate for the $900 fix.
Can anybody help me??

get slotted rotors. it will stop the vibration. see my post above. trust me on this. slotted rotors are only slightly more expensive but worth every cent. and, never take the car to chrysler for a service as its a rip off. I take mine to Ultra tune and now have over 220,000km on a 2006 model jeep cherokee without any issues with the car

Change to slotted rotors and it solves the problem. I spent 100,000km with vibration under braking and now the problem has gone away with the slotted rotors.
