Rb, speaking as someone who’s also 6′3, I can fit in the back of Mazda 6 quite easily. Maybe you confused a 3 for a 6….

Gotta love economics.
In relation to the whole Camry/Aurion Platform thing, if we want to combine sales of vehicles because they share platforms then VW would be the biggest in Australia.

Well, it’s a good move. Finally mazda realize that it’s too greedy. The prices of the limited & classic are OK.
But I still think the luxury & luxury sport are too much. If you compare it with Accord Euro Luxury (without sat nav):
Manual Auto
Euro Lux $39,990 $41,990
Mazda lux – $40,990
Mazda lux sport $40,990 $42,990

Remember, what euro lux has but mazda lux & lux sport don’t
- Front & rear parking sensor
- Auto headlight
- Auto rain sensing wiper
- Rear vent
- More powerful engine (power & torque)
- Bigger body

So, I hope people still don’t buy mazda6 lux & lux sport. They need to cut the price another $2-3K.

Adam, yes – the sales have dropped a wee amount but remain strong. In the face of increased competition, the Camry still sells strong although some sales are to fleet.

Personally, i believe the Camry requires a facelift in due time as new and fresher models such as the Honda Accord, Mazda6 and Mondeo have been released.

I reckon you will see a comprehensive update of the Camry (and Aurion) when the facelifted models are released to ensure they remain competitive. Even without a refresh (facelift), my new Camry Sportivo is a good car. Wanted an Aurion but unforunately the wife had a say aswell as the i made the decision on the diesel Hilux i brought for work.

Adam, the Falocn is Australia’s longest standing name and the Commodore title has been used sense about 1978 / 79 or there abouts. In the medium market, the Camry is the longest surviving nameplate becuase it has been a good car for families offering many strong characteristics that budget concess families appreciate. The Camry was never designed to be any different then a honest a-b family set of wheels and has long satisfied it’s market position

Adam, you said nothing i already know. I just made a point that many people are keen to state the Aurion is nothing more then a V6 Camry when it suits them but not as eager when the sales are combined. My point hits the nail on the head. As for large cars, the Aurion does a good job !

Toyota making the move they did with the Camry and Aurion combo was a smart move becuase they now sell more monthly units then the Camry 4cyl & 6 cyl and Avalon ever did. It also makes for efficent production as production numbers of either can be changed quickly to suit fluctuating demands. Capping costs is a must if our industry is to survive.

i am a 6.3″ 130kg body builder and no way will i fit in the back of a mazda 6 with comfort(me mate has one)the camry is easy, me and some mates hired one while in sydney a litle while ago!

SP, i’m not gonna critise the Mazda6 because it is a great car but is doesn’t accomodate a family as comfortably as a Camry or Mondeo.

Place 2 children capsules in the rear and no room remains in the centre. Do the same in a Camry and there is room to seat a child perhaps a small adult.

I done this not so long ago which is why i decided on a Camry Sportivo because not only does it look good and have better handling then the standard models but will be reliable and cheap to maintain.

Like Camry’s or not, they have a good name which gives it market recognition especially considering it is far the longest surviving medium car while many others have withered by the wayside

camry and aurion are the same core, platform sharing vehicles, correct…

CAMRY is a 4cyl.

AURION is a 6cyl.

TOYOTA markets the 2 cars separately, so their sales are not combined, YOU are the only person combining SALES.

SALES and being the SAME core vehicle platform wise are two separate points.

You talked about sales, pure and simple…

I said camry (4cyl vehicle) sales have dropped over the past 6 months, as the camry competes with OTHER 4CYL vehicles!

If you want to talk about 6CYL cars, then lets do so!

It’s not a Camry when sales are combined but it is a Camry when it’s time to critise the car for what ever reason. Carn’t have it both ways
