I have an XR4 and I've owned an MG, Datsun 240, Toyota Celica, Ford Probe as well as loads of less exciting cars. Don't bag this little car unless you've driven it, because it rivals a lot of the other cars I've had. Its fast, corners like its on rails, and takes off like shit off a shovel. And living up here in the north, where there are few police speed guns, lots of open straight roads and no speed limits till 2 years ago, I can take advantage of it. An open top? Bring it on!

I don’t think that adding the foglights from the mondeo and some bigger wheels will be good enough to make it an XR4. Were are all the go faster race stripes and all that stuff? And if I had to be really picky…. You could have chosen a better colour than white. but aside from that great car!! Only “mentally unfortunate” people could not like it.

Aaarggh come on folks its ONLY a CGI. The cabrio would have to be a rag top, there no rear hump to stash a tin roof. Not a patch on GM's tigra drop top.

I do hope they drop the 2.0L and go for a 1.6 Turbo. Say around 150-160Kw under 1200Kg with tricky front diff. But they might leave that for the Fiesta RS. A smaller sized turbo engine would give them more power, more torque, and better fuel consumption.

Agreed.

Myke...

Agree also, it's not like ANYOTHER small car on the market currently looks better, only the 2 has some sort of style.

I like the look of this Fiesta, it has substance unlike some other small cars out there like the Yaris, which is so bland you'd probably crash into it and still not notice it.

Burt, you are a dead set tool. The current XR4 is in the mid $20K and your going on about $35-40K. The XR4 sells very well, so does the XR5 Turbo Focus and believe it or not the Focus CC is actually selling at target numbers (I'm not a fan of convertibles) Compared to Holden struggling to sell 40 of the Daewoo Epicas in a month.

The XR4 isn't as sporty as the official release shots shown by Ford themselves! But it is still nice. [see http://www.caradvice.com.au/14383/2009-ford-fiesta-first-details/]. That cabrio, though, is sexy! The Tigra would be out on it's ass if they made this! And it will be a looooooooon way off (southward) of $40k!

Adam, The barina is a more appealing design. Have you had your eyes checked lately.

I dont like judging a car by CGI as they always turn out differently in real life, so it looks good but ill wait untill its released until i make my judgment.
