Toyota FT-86 performance data sheet leaked

Is this, at long last, the official performance data of the Toyota FT-86?

This spec sheet, first published on enthusiast website FT86club, is purportedly a training manual with all the important figures of Toyota’s all-new rear-wheel drive sports coupe.

The sheet reveals data for two ‘small FR (front-engined/rear-wheel drive) sport’ vehicles – a high-spec model and a low-spec model – and compares them with the Mazda MX-5 and RX-8 and the Honda CR-Z.

According to the spec sheet, the 86’s 2.0-litre Boxer engine will produce 147kW of power (200hp) at 7000rpm and 205Nm of torque at 6600rpm.

The low-spec model will return a combined cycle fuel consumption figure of 7.7 litres/100km, while the high-spec model (apparently heavier by 20kg) will use 8.1 litres/100km.

Unfortunately, the training manual doesn’t include details on the vehicles’ 0-100km/h times or top speed.

According to the data, the base model six-speed manual weighs 1210kg and the top-spec model weighs 1230kg. The six-speed automatic adds 20kg to both grades.

The 1998cc Boxer engine drinks premium unleaded fuel and the car is fitted with a 50-litre fuel tank.

All models will come with Vehicle Stability Control (ESC), six airbags, tilt- and reach-adjustable steering wheel and a one-piece folding rear seat, which can accommodate two passengers.

The entry-level model is decked out in 16-inch alloy wheels while the higher model scores 17s. It will also get ventilated front and rear disc brakes, while the base model will make do with non-ventilated rears. A limited slip differential will be standard on the high-spec car and available only on the manual variant of the lower model.

Additionally over the base model, the top-spec Toyota 86 will get HID headlamps, automatic headlights, front fog lights, leather steering wheel, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters (auto only), aluminium pedals, keyless entry and start, climate control, and high quality fabric upholstery.

These specifications are not official from Toyota and allegedly apply to the Japanese market, so should therefore be taken with a grain of salt when looked at from an Australian perspective.

Official details of the Toyota FT-86 will be revealed when the car makes its international debut at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show on November 30.

The new Toyota coupe – which is still without an official name – has been confirmed to go on sale in Australia around the middle of 2012.
