Ford Ranger gets 5-star safety rating from ANCAP

As well as earning a 5-star safety rating from the European new car assessment program (EuroNCAP), the Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) has also awarded the new Ford Ranger a 5-star safety rating.

Having scored 89 percent for overall safety in EuroNCAP testing, the Ford Ranger became the first ever pickup to earn a five-star safety rating by the organisation.

ANCAP based its five-star rating on a close analysis of the EuroNCAP results, awarding the ranger the same maximum score, as achieved in Europe.

"This is a very important announcement for our customers," said Bob Graziano, president and CEO of Ford Australia."When we developed the all-new Ranger we set out to establish many new benchmarks and we are hugely proud of the results we have achieved. Today's announcement is further proof we have developed a vehicle that delivers the levels of safety customers expect in this all-important vehicle segment."

The new Ford Ranger is equipped with the latest in active and passive safety features, helping the driver in preventing an accident and protecting the occupants if one was to occur.
