New Mercedes-Benz SUV to launch in 2015

An American journalist has posted an image of what appears to be a new Mercedes-Benz SUV scheduled to go on sale in 2015.

The BMW X6 rivalling SUV is likely to be produced by the German manufacturer to further diversify its SUV offering.

The photograph was taken in Mercedes-Benz's Tuscaloosa plant in Alabama during a recent unveiling of a $350 million production facility.

Markus Schaefer, head of Mercedes-Benz Alabama, spoke to reporters about the new model but remained tight lipped regarding what is was or what segment it would compete in.

Reports from Germany suggest the new SUV, dubbed the MLC, will be built on the ML-Class platform and will feature an all-wheel-drive system.

The new Mercedes-Benz CLS is a clear sign of the company's future design plans and when the new model is finally announced, we can expect to see similar, class leading styling.

The new model forms part of Mercedes-Benz's product planning attack with ten new models being introduced over the next four years.
