2013 BMW 4 Series coupe spy shots

BMW's next BMW 3 Series coupe is set to badged the BMW 4 Series. The company has been spotted testing a prototype of the new model which will take on the design cues of the recently unveiled 2012 BMW 3 Series.

This is the first time the new BMW 3 Series/4 Series coupe has been spotted, and by the looks of it, the new model will showcase a longer wheelbase providing slightly larger dimensions over the new 3 Series sedan. Speculations say the new 4 Series will become available in two-door and four-door coupe layout, like the upcoming BMW 6 Series.

From the front it features BMW's new long-bonnet design which sprouts out to the new pronounced front snout and grille area. The front end is also expected to feature a similar if not the same new headlight design which blends into the twin grilles in the centre.

From the side you can clearly see the stretched-out wheelbase with a long sweeping rear windscreen and C-pillar design, like a larger elegant grand touring coupe rather than the current model's small and sporty stance.

The BMW 4 Series will likely feature the same powertrain setups as the new 3 Series, including everything from the new 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit to the top-spec 3.0-litre TwinPower six-cylinder. Diesel variants will also make their way into the lineup. Badges are said to be made up of; BMW 420i, 428i, 430i, 435i, 425d, 430d, and 435d.

The new BMW 4 Series is expected to be unveiled some time next year, with sales set to begin in mid-2013.
