Mazda TAKERI concept hints at new Mazda6

First images of the new Mazda TAKERI concept have just been released, giving an early glimpse of what could form the foundations of the next generation Mazda6.

The TAKERI concept will be displayed alongside the new Mazda CX-5 at next months' Tokyo Motorshow and will feature the latest Mazda SKYACTIV technologies.

Mazda will use the TAKERI concept to showcase the company's new design language, KODO - soul of motion, which sees a slight shift from the current smiling face that we've become accustomed to in the Mazda range.

The concept will highlight the new SKYACTIV-D diesel engine as well as Mazda‘s i-stop (idling stop system) and a new regenerative braking system (a first for Mazda). The Japanese company claims that with all the technologies combined, the TAKERI will deliver excellent fuel economy.

The addition of regenerative braking is the second step in Mazda's building block strategy, which leaves electric drive (hybrid) as the final hurdle for the company going forward.

Little else is currently known about the TAKERI, but stay tuend as CarAdvice will be covering the new TAKERI concept as well as other Mazda models from the Tokyo motorshow late next month.
