Toyota world’s most respected company
July 7, 2008 by Alborz Fallah
If Toyota fans needed any more ammunition to support their brand, here it is. More than 60,000 people in 27 countries have anonymously voted Toyota as the world’s most respected company.
Scoring 86.53 out of 100 in a survey conducted by New York-based private research and consulting firm Reputation Institute, the Big T came out as number one amongst the world’s top 1,000 companies on perceptions of trust, esteem, admiration and good feeling.
No other car company was listed in the top 30. Volvo came in at 32nd, Honda 39th, BMW 88th and Daimler 99th.
Google came in behind Toyota which also led from Swedish furniture retailer IKEA and Italian chocolate-maker Ferrero.
In a more local study, Australian Reader’s Digest has also reported that Toyota is the most trusted automotive brand in the country. Mercedes-Benz came in second, followed by BMW, Holden, Honda and Mazda. Mitsubishi came in last (no doubt affected by its Adelaide plant closure).

Wingnut Please explain the relevance of your last post to this article??
Whats the difference with mothers driving a 4×4 to school, and a mother driving a M3 coupe to school?! The mothers of the 4×4 cared more about their kids to use 5 door wagon!!
But keep to the subject or get off!!
Don’t you have a forum to discuss of topic subejcts su as this?!!
bavarian missile you dont believe that your 10 year old m3 would beat a trd aurion do you!look at the power figures for a start: aurion trd 241kw, 13.6@102 qtr/mile, bring it to willowbank raceway anyday! you wont believe this bavarian anti-spam bmw
Bavarian Missile – how dare you suggest your 10 year old M3 could be better than Toyota Australia’s finest!
Compared to a TRD Aurion your M3 is simply not in the race when it comes to producing understeer! Just not in the race at all.
And can you imagine how many hundreds of dollars the TRD will be worth in 10 years time??
Sorry about the cut’n paste but this needs to be said.
1995 TOYOTA CELICA
ST205R GT4 Liftback 2dr Man 5sp 4WD 2.0T
Prices based on km 130,000 – 240,000
Trade in price guide* $12,600 – $15,500
National average price – private sale* $16,200 – $19,100
Price when new (RRP) $81,680
all prices quoted are GST inclusive where applicable
For you people that are quoting Toyota’s resale as a strong point….This is truly only the case with the good Toyota’s (ie the 4wd’s). In the case of the sports cars or the sedans, they fare no better. Above is a good example.
If you dont believe me, look at the resale values for the Avensis, MR2, Celica and anything else they have half-done.
This is what will happen to the TRD Aurion. It’s resale will plummet quicker than the WTC.
….and I cant imagine the TRD car club to be much more exciting than a convention of Used vacuum-cleaner salesmen.
millatime no worries mate in 10 years time do the same as everyone else and just put it in “unique cars magazine” and put $30,000 on it! it will be good for that!no stuff it put $40,000 on it!
Run away and hide if you cant hack it Tomas……….

Bavarian missile, seriously you are confusing an old bomb with collectibles!! With collectibles the price increases wih age, with old bombs it just drops!! Lets not forget your original statement….
Reply………..So once again your calling my car an old bomb are you ? Not collectible, gee better tell that to many car collectors around the world then mate that are parked up against Lambos Ferrari’s and other exotics !
Quote “My car is still currently worth more than your top of the range so called Toyota performance car that would be a TuRD………and still being 10 years old will kick ANY CURRENT TOYOTAS ARSE IN AUSTRALIA!”
Please don’t tell me you still believe it?!
I’ll let you get of gracefully, and won’t wont mention the 98 M3 vs 08 TRD power figures!!
Reply “as mentioned already provided you what a second hand TuRD goes for, less than my car.Performance figures are you joking………..my car would kick its arse from 0-100 and 1/4 mile times! You obviously have no idea about M3s or their times, educate yourself before you embarrass yourself next time .E36 M3 3.2 {normally aspirated too} 236 kW/321 bhp 0-100 5.5 SEC Shall I embarrass you further by telling you what the Camry with puff does? Not even in the 5 second club!
TuRD and BMW Motorsport…….thats the same!hahaha
Still waiting for that apology for calling my car a bomb! What was that based on too by the way.Your just like your mate have no credibility on this site.
You want to discuss Toyotas……….why? YAWN
Hang on heres another story from AUTO BLOG on how Toyota treat their workers
“Lending a bit of credence to recent allegations made by The National Labor Committee regarding workers right abuses by Toyota is the recent death of a lead engineer on the Camry hybrid project. Although the man died back in 2006, the Japanese Health Ministry has just now ruled that the man died of karoshi, which is a Japanese word meaning death from overwork. This ruling will allow his family to receive benefits from his ex-employer. The 45-year old man is survived by a daughter and his wife, who recalls her husband working long eighty-hour work weeks, along with frequent nights and weekends. Just prior to his death, he was working on shipping logistics related to the Detroit Auto Show, a trip he missed by just one day. Toyota responded to the ruling by saying that it would monitor its workers health more closely.
OWAF- you could be really daring (not a common trait amongst Toyota owners though) and whack it in for 41K, and the silence would be deafening..
I’ll keep to the subject.
I wonder how many of these 60,000 discerning survey respondents have been stranded by their Camry’s blown head gasket?
How many have even owned a Camry and watched the interior cloth door trim peel away from its backing before their eyes?
An Aurion-driving friend had his billowing carpet replaced under warranty. Now that the replacement carpet is doing the same, he’s decided to put up with this mild distraction underneath his feet just because he doesn’t want to take his car in again. At least the over-bright centre console lighting was fixed, but that was a design issue that Toyota heeded as a result of complaints.
Hey, I know the quality is mostly very good, good enough to top this survey even, but it’s not perfect. No car is.
haha Fenno the TuRD car club thats is funny! Ill have to keep my eye out for it next time at the Whiteman Park Car Show in 2009 . What a fun bunch of guys to do a cruise with they would be,burnout anyone? Woops front wheel drive.
Millatime……mmm never thought of it that way!Well said!
Dingo I dont think Unique cars accept Toyotas cause as the name suggests its for unique cars not your average family hack! Just as Shannon’s wouldn’t insure them either!Oh and thats not a factory time is it…………13.6 what are you smoking? I guess if I ever find one on the street Ill let you know how much I nailed it by Dingo!
Hey Golfy,I know your wondering why am I bothering? Im starting to wonder the same thing?
Ill send you an email with my new home number cause my mobile cuts out up here ,Kalamunda has crap phone coverage!
We should do lunch next week and a bottle of something.
Death by Koroshi, Ofcourse only Toyota would aspire it’s workers to that level of dedication!!
In the ford and holden camps, you wouldn’t even see a single soul around 5 minutes past knock off time! This level dedication can be seen in the quality of their products!!
And you guys were talking about passion!! :-)
Bavarian missile, your embracing your self!! don’t make me post the TRD aurion statiscs!!
Come on I want to see your beloved stats on the 2007 3.5 V6 Supercharged TuRD…………and while your at it whats its factory 1/4 mile time? I know its 0-100 is 6.2 sec I take it you understand power to weight dont you?
Im embracing myself am I ??? I think you mean your embarrassing yourself………….
241 kws from 3.5 v6 supercharged performance is pathetic when BMW can extract 252kws out of 3.2 normally aspirated………waiting for you to impress me with Toyota figures……….
Not to mention when your at the line still trying to steer it in a straight line I’m gone in my 6 speed manual!
Nah i mean Embracing yourself and your M3!!
Ok, back on topic.
Toyota’s Success can be attributed to Key points
1. The worlds best marketing machine
2. QDR – (Quality durability and Reliability) which is consistant throughout the range.
3. A range that covers EVERY segment of the market. (Sometimes they even have two or three vehicles to fit a single segment)
This is something that no other manufacturer can match. It doesnt make them better….just bigger.
Would you call McDonalds the best restauarant in the world?
No, I would bet one of the family jewels they are the biggest…and in some survey somewhere, they may even be the most trusted.
Fenno’s got it.
TRD Aurion 3.5L V6 engine delivering 241kW of power and
400Nm of torque.
Vs 1998 M3 236kw and 350nm(when new)!!
Hmmmm i wonder how much of that power is left in a car of that age!!
Worlds best marketing machine??
I haven’t seen a single advert for my Toyota car on the tv yet??? mmm… smells more like a bogan scapegoat to me!!!!
“bavarian missle” darling please go do some more homework before you EMBARRASS yourself! quote:1998 bmw m3 0-100kph 5.5 sec qtr mile 14.00@98mph i am not talking anything about resale value here you said your beemeer would kick a trd aurion’s ass well i am sorry to say darling you are WRONG!!!!!!! trd aurion 13.6@102 qtr mile that’s at least 3 car lengths over 400 meters! who’s embarrassing themselfs now! this blog has got way out of hand i am leaving now, what started as a happy feel good article has gone to far! shut it down now!
Will we bring up the 4.0 quad cam V6 litre version in the Slowlux compared to the new F6 ?
Slowlux 225 kws Yawn and 453Nms of torque
F6 4.0 inline 300kws and 550Nms of torque
Can someone explain why the 4.0 litre from TuRD Slowlux has less kws than the 3.5 V6 in the Aurion/Camry TuRD with a different badge!

Motor magazine July 2008
TRD Aurion 3500 S 0-400m 14.2 secs
TRD Aurion 3500 SL 0-400m 14.4 secs (auto)
The SURVEY says that Toyota are apparently the worlds most respected company… but what are they the most respected company at?
I mean were the questions extremely general – I suspect they were; or did they refer to a particular/specific area of business – because there is no way Toyota could possibly be the best at everything.. particularly as this survey involved every major company from every industry
Which is why I say factors such as: how the questions were worded; how the questions were asked; how the questions were interpreted; the type of people who took part in the survey; how the answers were interprted not to mention when and where the survey was done etc…. can have a dramatic impact on the results
I am not begrudging the fact that in this particular survey Toyota came out on top all I am saying that Surveys are by no means as factual as clinical tests etc as there are standardised procedures that are followed so that the results are the same.. whereas the results of a survey can vary each time you do it.

10 Year old M3 wins!
Exactly BM. There are some [on this site] who say that the engines in the Holdens and Fords are pathetic low-tech engines…. yet they are more flexible and easily produce more useable power than their more high-tech counterparts such as the V6 in the [TRD] Aurion
Thomas,
Your TV is broken. What do you drive that Toyota have never advertised? BTW, There are more mediums than TV…you’re using one now.
Bogan Scapegoat????
Are you insinuating that I am of urban middle-class descent?
Get over yourself mate – You have no idea.
You’re flogging a dead horse with the M3/Aurion arguement. EVERY SINGLE RESPECTABLE DRIVER IN THE WORLD WOULD RATE THE E36 M3 OVER ANY…I REPEAT ANY TOYOTA EVER SOLD.
Motor Quote 14.2 for the quarter-mile on a TRD…
I must ask though, for someone as …(ahem) gifted as yourself, Have you even driven the TRD?
QUOTE [DINGO]: this blog has got way out of hand i am leaving now, what started as a happy feel good article has gone to far! shut it down now!
Finally we agree on something Dingo… This article/topic has received at least 230 comments more than what it deserved.
NOTE This is the 230th Oomment
Where did you come up with those figures from Dingo I need a link to the site please? If its from your local drag strip it doesn’t count !
Tomas what do you mean how much power left in it cause of its age? As I said its low klms nothing to do with age. Cars actually get faster the looser they get! How much power has it lost well if me regularly betting most local factory V8s including the old BF GTs that also had the same performance figures its lost nothing, not to mention I just about parked in the boot of a VE SS 2 days ago cause he ran out of puff when it was trying to out accelerate me!!
As I said its all about power to weight……..
E36 M3 weight 1460kgs
TuRD Aurion weight 1630 kgs
So thats 230 kgs more coming from your over weight front wheel drive wrist braking torque steering TuRD!
What your leaving without being banned Dingo………
Please stop comparing the likes of TuRD with Bavarian Motorsport, even the guys at TuRD would laugh at you!
Luke GT – Your the unresonable,Your just putting what you don’t like about yourself onto anyone who does agree with you, your IQ is starting to show.As i said before Toyota won’t enter any racing series were they can’t dominate from the outset. Also have you gone to FIAGT website, its three series GT2,GT3 and GT4 heres the cars from all three classes Aston Martin,Ferrari,Lamborgini,Maserati,Porshe,Nissan,Lotus, KTM,BMW,Audi,Jaguar,Morgan,Ascari,Ford,GM,Dodge,Ponoz,Seleen and Gillet,Toyotas hasn’t got a car to run in any of the classes.
Even if they had a car they probobly get booted out for cheating,”If you can’t beat them change the game”or cheat. While Ford and olden offer products people want(RWD),Toyota tell people what they want.
Thankyou Millatime I could kiss you for coming up with those figures on 1/4 mile times.Where did Dingo get his from?
Fenno,
Judging by your response “Are you insinuating that I am of urban middle-class descent?
Get over yourself mate – You have no idea.”
So you insinuating that you are better then the urban middle-class?! You are a much worse then a bogan, a sound like a complete wanker!!
i will tell you clowns again i am not dingo!!willowbank raceway june 2008 test&tune showroom trd aurion full spare, full tank fuel, traction control on 1st run 13.8@101 2nd run 13.8@102 3rd run 13.6@102 i am still waiting for those bmw times 14.0@98 thank you!
and by the way that’s leaving it in auto! not manual mode!
Dingo those aren’t factory times like the M3s are so unfair comparison,we dont know what mods have been done to it,doesn’t count!
And we’re not going to take your word on the fact its stock are we!
I mean I just typed in BMW M3 1/4 mile times and found one guy doing 9.4 quarters in it………..factory no and I guess the Turd Aurion/Camry is either………..give up you have both lost this fight.
No, Thomas I was questioning as to why you implied that I am of a certain socio-economic demographic when you have zero idea of who I am. As for name-calling. You seem to well out of your depth when it comes to stringing together a coherent response to my arguement(or anyone else’s for that matter) by responding with utter crass. You are yet to enlighten us here with what sort of vehicle you supposedly even own?
In addendum. I live in the “Bogan” capital of Australia my friend (Ipswich,Qld) and have more than a few flannel shirts of my own but am no “Bogan scapegoat” as you eloquently put it. As for your W***er comment.
I am a male. Any male who denies that they do your afore-mentioned act, is truly in denial and should maybe question their own selves before passing judgement.
So how ’bout, you leave the whole attitude out of the forum and stick to the point, which as I see it so far…you have completely missed.
Now should we change the subject and ask whos going to win around the track……..hahaha why bother? 50/50 weight displacement and rear wheel drive BMW won again!
Why I am waisting my time comparing your modified family car with one of the worlds most respected names in performance Ill never know………Its not a fair race to TuRD!
Okay then – However; inorder to get a more fair reasonable let alone more accurate comparison you should look for instances where the same [race car] driver was at the wheel of both cars [both then and now] otherwise the reaction time will be different.
Yet as we can see here by comparing a 10 year old German Engineered RWD naturally Aspirated I6 cyl Sports Coupe such as the M3 to a Brand New Japanes/Local engineered FWD Supercharged V6 sedan in the TRD
You have a thing for comparing apples with oranges. Surely it makes more sense to compare apples with apples which would be either
A 98 BMW M3 with a 98 VN Lexcen [from the same year]
A 08 BMW M3 with a 08 TRD Aurion [again from the same year]
A 08 3 Series Sedan with a 08 TRD Aurion [same body style]
Tomas79-
Please tell us, exactly what DO you drive???
A Dyna? Or is it an Avalon? Please tell us..
And please leave out the ignorant insults.
Come to think of it Oh What A Feeling Dingo and his Crue are right the FWD TRD Aurion would quite literally run rings around the M3 mainly due to torque steer
Particularly as we have been told [on so many occassions] Toyota is also dominating NASCAR – where all they do is go round and round in circles
Fenno to these guys if you dont love Toyota’s then your a bogan………….
As far as them getting or even understanding points they are in denial to facts and change the subject to suit themselves when their wrong! If you think you’ll get an apology I wouldn’t wait around Im still waiting for one from Tomas after he called my car a bomb before seeing it since yesterday!
A real man/woman can admit hes wrong and apologise but not these 2
I have had alook on the car advice forum and Tomas79 drives a 3.0 Litre Prado 4×4 so if anyone is an authority on performance let alone performance cars it would be him and not someone who owns a BMW M3
Hey Millitime he drives a Prado…………go to the forum in introductions he finally put the pic up late last night after I asked too several times!
Im guess with nobbly tyres like those it would be terribly noisy on the road Tomas! Hardly a performance vehicle is it?
Haven’t stopped laughing yet…Thanks WN,MT & BM.
Fenno,
Obviously, you are the one missing the point here, since even bavarian missile able to find out what car i drive from the discussion above!! And a for me calling you a bogan, where was that you idiot?! “Bogan scapegoat” = Bogan excuse!!
All you anti-toyota people always blame the it’s success on advertising!!
Also, I don’t know why you bogans are so sensitive to being called “bogans”? I could be called one all day, and i would not care!! I guess it’s way too close to the truth!!
I know its been a fun 3 hours Fenno,of which I should have been doing other things but couldn’t resist embarrassing the 2 Toyota lovers hang on they did that themselves……….mission accomplished !
I apoligies for the scrambled post above, bad pasting…
Quote [George July 10] :Anyway, it’s just my 2 cents to encourage more constructive comments.
You have probably realised George that because of a select few [3 to be exact] the day you happen to find any constructive comments/criticism let alone civilised discussions were they can accept other peoples different opinions without people resorting to insults personal attacks or offensive language.
Will probably be the day Hell Freezes Over.. or South Sydney win the NRL
Bavarian missile your the one embarrassing yourself on here!!!
Yep, it’s a prado, and it’s brilliant for what i wanna do!!
Yep, it surely is much more fun to me then a boring old 2wd coup!!
Hey it even has more torque!!
Tomas79 -
…bad pasting, grammar and wheels too…
No wonder you think the M3 is rubbish! How do you cope with all that horsepower? You must’ve destroyed sooooo many M3’s at the traffic lights!!
