2007 SsangYong Actyon

Lets be honest here, SsangYong don't make pretty cars, infact, they make some of the ugliest cars on the planet. One after the other, SsangYong cars come out of the factory looking like they were put together by blind monkeys, they are simply just hideous. But then came along the Musso's replacement, The SsangYong Actyon:

You know what? I think after all that failed extermination, this car actually looks.. good! Yes I said it, a SsangYong which doesn't make me feel ill when I look at it. I am looking forward to seeing the all new Actyon range at this year's Brisbane Motor Show.

SsangYong says that new vehicle will be available in two types

  1. the Coupe Sports
  2. the Sports Utility,

The coupe sports was already pictures and the Sports utility, is pictured below. Both cars will be available in a few different guises, with both 2WD and 4WD systems on offer as well as the choice of a third generation common rail VGT turbo diesel engine or a 2.3 litre overhead cam four-cylinder petrol engine.

According to SsangYong Australia, general manager sales and marketing, Brad Larkham, Actyon has aroused enormous attention since it was unveiled at the Sydney Show last October and is sure to be a hit with Queensland buyers:

"Full pricing as well as details of specifications and launch dates for the Actyon will be revealed at the Brisbane Show allowing Queenslanders to assess what will be an ideal vehicle for an active lifestyle in the Sunshine State,' said Brad Larkham.

"Its certainly not a typical boxy 4WD and will stand out for all the right reasons, actyon has a very aerodynamic shape and will change people's perceptions of compact 4WDs that's why we are calling it a Coupe Sport,' he added.

"Both the Coupe Sport and the Sport Utility feature a striking shark-like grille and eagle eye headlights that make it the most dynamic looking vehicle in the compact 4WD category.

"There is clearly a strong family resemblance to the Kyron but this is a smaller and more compact 4WD which also boasts excellent on and off road dynamics while the dual cab utility model is sure to be a hit with tradesman and lifestyle buyers seeking a practical and economical ute with dual-cab and roomy load tray,' he added.

The Actyon Sports Utility has a wider track, increased load capacity and a more economical and efficient European designed power plant compared to its predecessor, the Musso Sports Utility. Double wishbone front suspension and a five-link rear end as well as the availability of ESP (Electronic Stability Program) is a big offering from the South Korean manufacturer.

Along with ESP, the Actyon comes with hill descent control as standard (on some models). The European sourced diesel engine which powers the Actyon produces 104kW of power at 4000 rpm and 310 Nm of torque at 2700rpm. Meanwhile the 2.3 litre petrol engine puts out around 110kW at 5500rpm ad 214 Nm at 4500rpm.

If your going to the Brisbane Motor Show, check out the other offerings at SsangYong stand such as the updated version of the Rexton as well as the full Kyron range.
