Top Gear shows off at the Isle of Man

By George Skentzos |

In the past, CarAdvice has been privileged enough to drive some of the world’s most expensive and exclusive supercars – just not all at once.

One keen-eyed fan has recently spied the Top Gear team shooting on the Isle of Man with a fleet of performance cars worthy of any self-respecting Sheik’s garage.

Among the list is a very familiar Aston Martin DBS – the exact same car CarAdvice drove just months ago on our Full Throttle whirlwind tour of Europe.

You can watch our Aston Martin DBS video review below:

Also making the list is the new Nissan GT-R, Audi RS6 Avant, Porsche 911 GT2 and even a John Cooper Works MINI.

In case you didn’t already know, the Isle of Man is one of the few glorious places left around the world without speed limits on some of its roads.

Oh my God. It’s a dream come true. I didn’t know about this place. No speed limits? I would like to try something like that.

  • fasthonda

Yeah! What is the pesky Mini doing in that bunch?Unfortunately, the last time I saw a Top Gear episode on The Isle of Man it was raining. It seems no different in this upcoming episode :( Can’t wait to see it though!

    Sexy!

  • BOSSCR

Did they have a TRD Hilux…..?

  • Crouchy

The mini does look very out of place. But speaking of out of place, how pedestrian does the audi look compared to its slicker rivals……..

    Anyone agree?

I’m guessing there are a few people responding here that have never driven a MINI, haha.

  • topdog

  • No Name

Crouchy & Top Dog – you could say the same about the Lexus being there as well ISF or not. Thats even more of a yawn than the RS4 whcih isn;t exactly yawn. One of the nicest sounding car on the planet.

  • lexus rules

why shouldnt the lexus isf be there it is one of the most sort after supercars currently around! it eats the rs4 audi and would do the same to most cars (except the nissan) in this group! maybe the mini is a pace car!

  • Astons_Rule

The Mini isn’t a slouch, with the Works engine in, but I’m not sure it could keep up with any of the others in that pack.. Not sure it deserves a place there. But that is a gorgeous line up.

    @Sorin

Mate, I lived up in the Northern Territory from 1987 – 2005 and for ALL those years there was NO speed limit once out of a township e.g. 1 or 2km’s.

I regularly drove from Darwin to Alice Springs (1,550km each way) for work with Valvoline (company rocket car) and the best time I did it in was 10.75 hours!!!
(I actually overtook a police car on the Stuart Highway @ 160, no joke it was legal and felt bloody great)

Set the cruise control on 180km/h, air con @ 21.5 and your halfway across Australia, those where the days. I now live in WA (Perth) which is bigger but only allows you to do 110km/h, it should be 130 at least on remote roads e.g. Nullabor or Great Eastern Highways.
