One of the saddest events in motor sports is when a death occurs from an accident on track. The world stopped when Ayrton Senna was killed in a crash while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix and yesterday saw the horrific accident that led to the passing of two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon.

Wheldon was scheduled to partner James Courtney in a HRT Commodore at this weekend’s Gold Coast V8 Supercar round.
