Next-Gen Honda NSX concept appears in The Avengers

Seems as though our prayers may have been answered with pictures of what we suspect is a concept of the next-generation Honda NSX surfacing online today.

Snapped during filming of "The Avengers" movie, the next-generation Honda NSX (to be released as an Acura, Honda's premium brand, in the U.S.) looks like a fitting replacement for Tony Stark's Audi R8.

It goes to show that Honda has proactively used the movie to feature its upcoming supercar. This is a good sign that the next-generation Honda NSX is closer to release than we'd previously anticipated.

Real questions remain as to what will power the Lexus LF-A competitor, or more importantly, if it will indeed even be a Lexus LF-A competitor.

The original revival plans for the Honda NSX was meant to result in a V10 supercar to rival the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini, but the first GFC put an end to that idea.

In recent times Honda President Takanobu Ito has stated that the NSX will make use of an electric drivetrain as well as a petrol engine, meaning the Honda NSX will be a hybrid.

It's also unlikely to be an all-out supercar with sources inside Honda previously stating that it will be positioned as a high-performance big brother to the two-seat Honda CR-Z sporty hybrid.

Despite all the green talk, if it's anything like the original mid-engined rear-wheel drive NSX (1990–2005), it's sure to be a formidable adversary to the likes of the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R.
