2013 Ford Mondeo mule spy photos

By Alborz Fallah |

Yes it’s a mule and yes, it looks like the current Ford Mondeo but underneath is the new drivetrain and engineering system for the next-generation 2013 Ford Mondeo.

This Ford Mondeo wagon mule was spotted testing in the snowy Alps, which is a good indication that we may soon see more camouflage-covered mules sporting elements of the new design.

Speaking of which, sources suggest the new Mondeo will take some styling ideas from the recently unveiled Ford Evos Concept revealed in Frankfurt. If that’s the case, the next generation Mondeo is sure to be a looker.

The current Ford Mondeo has been a rather popular car here in Australia, commanding a 12% marketshare in the medium-car segment (second only to the Toyota Camry).

It is quite amazing that the mondeo has managed to hold onto the number 2 position for so long. A friend recently bought a mazda 6 over the mondeo only because the equivalent 6 was about $3000 cheaper. The ford dealer wouldn’t budge on price.

Maybe the Mondeo was several thousand dollars better car than the Mazda 6. More options etc. Both cars are good cars.

the mondeo is only more popular than the M6 because of the fleet sales. It is being heavily pushed and discounted into fleets to replace the falcon wagon.
Give it a couple years until these fleets hit the used market and watch the resale start to slide.

If price was the only consideration then Hyundai would be Australia’s number one.

I’ve always been fascinated to know how you know it’s a mule when it looks like current model etc

I think the fact you can get a good looking, well equipped diesel Auto wagon keeps it at the top of the charts. Its the perfect family car!

5 years ago, who would’ve thought wagons could look so good?

I’m happy the Ford Australia made the gamble to bring the Mondeo here because it really has paid off for them and we got one of Europe’s best as a result. Good effort!

How long is the nose on that thing? You’ll need to catch a bus from the front wheel to the nose….and take a packed lunch.

I also think the wheels look very big. Cars really only need 14″ rims like the new Mercedes B class that I am getting when it comes out….
