Toyota Leading the Assembly Line

“As part of The Toyota Way philosophy, we are constantly looking to improve the welfare of our team members as well as the quality of our vehicles. Using virtual technology like Ergo Man will undoubtedly help to reduce the number of aches, sprains and strains in the assembly process.” Paul Golding, who is in charge of assembly trials at Altona

Toyota Australia seems to care about it's Assembly workers! Using software they like to call an 'Ergo Man' Toyota was able to digitally replicate the entire assembly production process of building the new camry (at the Altona plant in Melbourne) so that the strain on the assembly staff can be ascertained and the risks can be minimized.

You have to wonder how advanced this software is to take into consideration all sorts of factors as well as just simple muscular strain. Nonetheless, it is good to see such technology being put to use in Australia.

Ergo Man is operated using Dassault Systèmes’ DELMIA software in conjunction with the CATIA system used to design and develop the Camry.
