Love the fact Audi are going back to their motorsport roots with this one. Nothing like the sound of a 5 cylinder engine screaming along. Ahhh the days of the great 5 cylinder turbo charged Audi Group B rally monsters.

@Reckless1: The DSG gearbox can hold a lot more than 400nm I can assure. All this talk about DSG boxes not being strong is pure fallacy. The fastest production car in the world uses a DSG setup. Oh wait and guess which parent company owns that car? VW! Porsche is now also moving to DSG. The DSG setup is the way of the future even BMW and Ferrari are giving up on automated clutch setups and moving to DSG. So if there was an inherent weakness in their design, companies like the ones mentioned wouldn’t consider them for their future line up’s.

@Reckless1: You’ll love the GTI. It’s not the sharpest tool in the shed, so to speak, but as an overall package it close to perfect. They really have done a great job with the Mk5, much, much better than the Mk4.

I doubt a direct sales taker from the R8
and Audi TT will always be an Audi TT, The R8 sits on exclusivity.

The 2.5 engine will easily make 265kw (you can get that from the 2.0) especially with twin turbos.

The torque is very likely to be 400nm at the very least, – not sure how the DSG box will cope with that.

There are rumours aplenty about the Golf VI and whether it will come here or not, but I can’t really see why it would suddenly be dropped from the VW range.

Anyhow, my Mark V GTI is ordered and will be in my hands (hopefully) in a couple of weeks. :)

@VW_Freak: I can’t believe that VW Aus will not bring in the Mk6 Golf, but until there’s confirmation from them that it will be coming I guess we just need to keep speculating. VW US has confirmed they will be getting the Mk6.

Cool – Love Audis. The performance has got to be as good as the 3.2 heavy lump.
Can’t wait to see a test of the Diesel TT here in the UK. Even better.
