John Travolta’s Mercedes-Benz 280 SL stolen

Theives in Santa Monica, California, have stolen John Travolta's classic 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL while it was parked near a Jaguar dealership. The Hollywood star was taking a look inside the Jaguar showroom in broad daylight at the time of the theft.

Reports say Travolta only left the classic Mercedes-Benz for around 10 minutes before the thieves took off with it. The famous actor/Qantas guest pilot then went back into the dealer while he waited for police.

Even though the star could easily afford to buy another brand-new Mercedes-Benz convertible, the Mercedes-Benz 280 SL is regarded as one of the coolest old-school Mercs around, and they are getting extremely pricey.

The thieves obviously knew this. Or maybe they just really wanted a piece of Travolta memorabilia. Report say it was most likely a professional job, possibly incorporating a tow-truck as that seems to be the growing method of car theft in the state.

Police are yet to locate the SL and have not been able to talk with reliable witnesses.
