While Lamborghini was unveiling its range of supercars at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany, company president Stephan Winkelmann has announced and confirmed the dramatic Lamborghini Sesto Elemento would go into limited production.
Just 20 examples of the extremely lightweight and very powerful Sesto Elemento will be made and launched in 2013. Lamborghini president Stephan Winkelmann said,
“The excellent feedback and the numerous requests we’ve had from our customers have really convinced us to embark on the challenge of producing a vehicle with unique characteristics.
“We are proud that what a year ago was just a ‘technology demonstrator’ of future super sports cars, even though in working order, will become a small series reality.”
It features a 5.2-litre V10 engine producing 419kW of power and 540Nm of torque – the same unit as seen in the recently unveiled Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale.
The Sesto Elemento will come with an e-gear six-speed paddle-shift transmission and an all-wheel drive system. With an overall weight of just 999kg, Lamborghini says the Sesto Elemento is capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in just 2.5 seconds, making it one of the quickest accelerating cars on the market.
If you’re interested in buying one, you’d better be quick, the 20 limited edition models are expected to sell out very fast indeed.
