Whilst the automotive world is busy with the Frankfurt Motorshow, Audi’s engineers have been busy testing what we think to be the new Audi RS4 around the Nürburgring.

With its big air intakes at the front, the wider fenders and the massive oval exhaust pipes, this beauty really stands out (even in the camouflage).

Although unconfirmed for now, we expect the engine to be the same 4.2-liter V8 found in the RS5 (331kW @ 8250rpm and 430Nm @ 4000rpm), unless Audi plays the downsizing game and gives the RS4 a twin-turbo V6?

This prototype also shows the lights and grille from the upcoming facelift that will come all over the Audi A4/S4 range.

Disappointed when the RS5 came out and the guards were not pumped out like the B7 RS4.

From the spy shots, doesn’t seem like the guards are pumped either…

Phew…was beginning to think they werent going to make one this model cycle. At least its finally coming though!

I think it was a mistake to move away from Audi’s policy of only having one ‘RS’ car at any one time. Having one for every model makes them seem a little less special, and sadly makes the ‘S’ models (which are awesome in their own right) seem downright commonplace.

On top of that they even have S-Line models which make your basic A4 or A5 look exactly like the upper spec S models. obviously Audi is in the business of making money…and they seem to be doing a very good job of doing it!
