It may be a dynamic, eco friendly, fantastic car but it’s still an ugly one. That rear end is hideous and those wheels just don’t do it for me. The interior looks cold and uninviting with that massive steel lookalike centre console, reminds me of a prison cell wash basin. Is this perhaps the modern day version of the Leyland P76?

The “DRIVe” model label is simply 100% misleading Greenwash marketing… And it’s surely not only coincidental that the test car is some poxy shade of “green”.. pathetic marketing effort Volvo!

This car does have Hill Start Assist, and it’s clearly shown in the interior photographs. Another name for this item of equipment is “hand brake”.

The floating centre dash, angled hand brake nad a back end that looks like it was cut with a broad knife were the first things that got my attention.

The dash/console is the same as the s40 that came out in 2004. It was pretty flash back then, it is a little plain now. It is functional enough, though the buttons are a little small for bluetooth. My kids have pointed out many times that from the back the console looks like a monkey (eyes are vents, screen mouth, knobs arms and legs, and gear lever the tail or something else).

Gee, I was expecting the price to be just over $30,000, considering the good exchange rate at the moment. A BlueMotion Golf costs less and has more space with the same quality, but without the unique design.
