2007 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class CL 500 CL 63 AMG CL 600
Mercedes has announced the Australian specifications and pricing for the 2007 CL-Class Coupé range as the car is set for launch this coming March. If you've seen the CL-Class cars out and about, you've probably never thought about just how expensive these cars are!
The two-door CL-Class will start from only $308,000 for the CL 500, whilst the real fun starts at $383,000 for the CL 63 AMG.
But if an AMG doesn't satisfy your ego, and if you've already bought enough property to declare your own country, then perhaps the CL 600 which is powered by the unbelievably powerful and famous V12 biturbo engine from $389,000 might do the trick! Don't breath yet, these prices don't even include dealer delivery and statutory charges!
So lets have a look at the breakdown of these 3 different models:
CL 500 : The eight-cylinder powerplant in the CL 500 delivers 285 kW and generates a maximum torque of 530 Newton metres from 2800 rpm, outdoing the existing V8 unit by 26 percent in terms of output and 15 percent when it comes to torque. The CL 500 accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds (previous model: 6.3 seconds).
CL 63 AMG : Using a 6,208 cc V8 engine that has the AMG version puts out a unbelievable 385 kW / 630 Newton Metres torque. This is then coupled together with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC 7-speed automatic transmission (no manual is offered).
CL 600 : Yes I know you are reading this one first, I wrote it first too! The CL 600 uses a biturbo twelve-cylinder (yes 12) engine which puts out 380 kW, which is actually lower than the V8, but wait for the torque.. 830 Newton metres. The new CL 600 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds (previous model: 4.8 seconds). The CL 600 uses around 14L/100km... if driven normally.. But who drives a V12 normally?
