Infiniti FX50 Sebastian Vettel edition SUV concept revealed

By Brett Davis |

As speculated last week, Infiniti has indeed been working on an Infiniti FX50 Sebestian Vettel concept, as seen in this preview image. The F1 World Champion will unveil the concept at next month’s 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany.

The Infiniti FX50 Vettel concept showcases a sporty exterior with a fresh front apron and new grille design. The special concept also features a distinct black and Moonlight White Pearl colour scheme, with new charcoal alloy wheels, black carbon fibre side mirrors and rear tailgate spoiler.

Other exterior highlights include a carbon fibre front wing, which is said to be modelled on the Red Bull Racing F1 car’s front wing, a set of LEDs embedded into the lower front bumper bar, and removed roof rails from the standard FX50 to provide a sleeker look.

Underneath, the Vettel concept Infiniti FX50 is expected to feature the top-spec 5.0-litre V8 powerplant. Reports suggest the engine could receive a slight tune to increase power output, bringing power levels above the standard 5.0-litre V8′s figure of 287kW.

The interior of the Vettel FX50 is likely to feature a number of special logos and ‘Vettel’ badges, as well as a unique steering wheel layout as previously outlined in the Vettel and Shiro Nakamura (Infiniti senior vice president) video.

Full details will be revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, starting September 13.

If you look closely you will see the Webber edition about 300 meters back up the road!!!

…and behind Webber all of the other “driver edition” cars… ;-)

Just be careful with the Webber edition, I’ve heard the Engine Management Systems has been covertly programmed to cut engine power and flash warnings as soon as you try and overtake the Vettel edition.

And for some reason a much taller 1st gear meaning that off-the-line acceleration is poor. It’s made up for with better rolling acceleration though…

Along with shouts from the navigation system (in German accent) of ‘Maintain track position’ and ‘SQVIRROLLLLL’!

Am I the only one that thinks this is Pointless? Vettel putting his name on an SUV? That’s like HSV/Holden releasing a Brock version of the Holden Captiva.
Be Taken seriously and put this kit on the Infiniti G Series Coupe..
