Infiniti FX50 Sebastian Vettel Edition SUV to be unveiled at Frankfurt show?

By Brett Davis |

Rumour has it that Infiniti is planning to unveil a special Infiniti FX50 Vettel Edition luxury SUV at the upcoming 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show next month. Such a vehicle, supposedly backed by Sebastian Vettel, may eventually go into production.

A few rumours are floating around at the moment saying Vettel will be putting his name on a special edition Infiniti of some kind, with speculation pointing towards the Infiniti FX50 SUV as the vehicle of choice.

One of the reasons rumours say it will be an FX50 is because when Vettel was given the chance to have an Infiniti for his own personal transport, he was said to have selected the FX50, because he wanted room to put his mountain bike in the back.

A video has also been released onto YouTube showing Vettel talking with Infiniti senior vice president, Shiro Nakamura, about designs for an upcoming model. When they discussed a matt grey colour scheme, Nakamura was heard saying to Vettel, “you drive in white, right?” referring to Vettel’s personal Infiniti FX50.

It could be a case of simply jumping to conclusions, but according to various international reports, a Vettel Edition of an Infiniti model is certain to be unveiled at the Frankfurt show.

The vehicle is expected to showcase special trim revisions, possibly incorporating the use of exotic materials compared with the standard model, such as carbon fibre details inside and out, as well as a race-like steering wheel with more controls and buttons.

At first the special model will apparently be pitched as a concept, and if the public’s reaction is good, Infiniti may put it into production. We’ll have to wait and see, and we’ll keep you updated.

Take a look at the video below in the meantime and tell us what you think.

I hope this isnt true, FX is one of my favourite cars and on the other end of the spectrum I really don’t like Vettle, sure he’s a great driver but when he wins he is not humble at all and when he loses it’s like he’s 5 and you’ve just stolen candy off him. They need someone with more charisma

Does that mean when you see one of the Vettel’s on the road you have to let it through? There is no overtaking, just in case you upset the team.

I would like to also see a Webber version as well.
