Popular big city mode of transport.Great safety,Holden will be happy to have Barina in there stable.
Looks like it will be a big improvement over the current Barina/Kalos (not hard) but I dont think it will be class leading.
Now surely the Audi A6 and BMW X3 are safer than a Barina, and yet the both get the same number of stars. NCAP should add a sixth star for all of those cars that are right now at the top of the five star category. It’s not like cars aren’t going to get safer than this.
I guess seeing as they dont have that option, the best thing we can do is compare cars in their own classes. Off course the German cars are probably much safer by virtue of their size, simple physics and probably being better engineered to absorb crash energy. best thing to do would be to compare the Barina to cars such as the Fiesta, Polo etc etc…
Why must the A6 and X3 be safer? The Barina (Aveo) was given a higher points score than those cars by an independent body so surely it its the safer of the three?
^Refer to above Comment.
ANCAP continually increases the requirements.
So your beloved cars may no longer achieve 5 stars (the Opel Corsa certainly wouldn’t).
It’s comforting to see then next Barina receiving a 5-star rating. Now people who don’t care about what car they drive will at least be a hell of a lot safer than they were in the previous 2-star Barina.
Re comparison scores, – please note that 5 stars doesn’t always equal 5 stars as each score is evaluated and awarded per category, ranging from small cars to SUVs.
Still great to see so many 5 star safety ratings though.
Correction: the 2012 Barina is the Chevrolet Sonic, not the Aveo.
is this saying a 2007 barina didnt have esc…. i use to have that barina until i went thro a little puddle on the road and around a corner…. i ended up losing control of the vehicle more than 100 m from the corner……. i always thought it was my abs that played up cos it had just not long gone in to the shop for them!!!!!!!!!1
