Nissan 200SX replacement revealed
June 8, 2008 by George Skentzos
Much like the upcoming 350Z replacement, images of Nissan’s new rear-wheel drive 200SX successor have made their way onto the internet.
The FR Coupe is due to hit Japanese showrooms by 2010 just in time to compete with the joint offering from Toyobaru.
Keeping true to its origins, it is likely to be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine using Nissan’s Variable Compression Ratio technology.
Power is likely to be 165kW at 6000rpm and 343Nm pushing around a coupe which weighs just 1200kg.
The 2.0L FR Coupe will take its place at the bottom of Nissan’s performance tree, expected to carry a price tag of just AUD$25,000 in the Japanese market.

Lookin’ good.
Any chance this will be a hybrid, ala CR-Z ?
Whats the red car above the 200SX in that chart?
Yea
I wish we could get it here for 25k, instead they’d slug us around 40k which is what the base s15 costed a few years back.
^^ Im pretty sure the red car in the chart is a G35 skyline? or perhaps a replacement for it.
damn! it looks ugly as!
The red car is the Skyline V36 250GT which is a 2.5L V6. Couldn’t be the V35 350GT/G35 as that would have the same performance as the 350Z pictured.
if nissan brings it here, it would be more than around 40K. but as a privae import, it might hurt as much as more than 55K
I’d take a 200sx over that any day.
The back end looks very similar to Hyundai Tiburon. They should have never replaced S15!
looks like the hyundai coupe
Yuck tiburon!
Looks a bit too much like a Camry after some botox.
well to me it look just like a cross between a nissan tida the front top of the bonnet and grill and the side and back are the hyundai coupe.
its fugly
I’d suggest that these pictures are not final by any means, either way it is going to be some fun soon with all the well priced 2 door, rear wheel drive monsters coming from Japan!
well in a few years expect the grey import yards to flood our shores with these bad boys as that older then 4 years of whatever it is japanese tax kicks in. just like the skylines and supras were getting now.
Eww. Its a toybaru front end with a tiburon rear >
I hope it’s not as expensive as $40k.
Remember that hyundai is also making a FR coupe. Good competition for us.
people seem to jump the gun when they see concept sketches and so on…as someone said earlier, this would by no means be the final product, indeed there may be other completely different sketches around we havent seen!
who cares what it looks like!
RWD nissan = good times
that being said, i am a little disappointed
front does indeed look liek a subaru/toyota front but its also similar to the new Murano.
The basic shape is still like the S15..
“The basic shape is still like the S15.. ”
Lets hope its still as small as an s15..
Sports cars are the only cool Nissans, so they need to make them look nice. The Z and GT-R are legends and I hope the SX won’t be the weak link.
The SX has never been a weak link in Nissans performance line up.
A favoured car by tuners and drifters alike.
Probably one of the best bang for buck coupes on the market in s14 and s15 guise.
The red car is a V36 370GT, which Nissan can’t really say is comparable with their 350Z though the reality is they aren’t that far off. That graph indicates the “S16″ fits between the Skyline and the 350Z in performance for a much better price though given how they’ve gone and made the Skyline way lower rated than the 350 I guess you have to take it with a grain of salt.
Bloody ugly, looks like an erly model Hyundia!
I think I’ll keep my S15 thankyou!
it will not be released in Australia unfortunately… Nissan Australia are looking at importing 200sx or any small sports car into the AUstralian market and i dont know why.
there has to be a massive clean out from the Nissan Australian management… they are not giving their customers the full benefits of what other countrys are getting.
