2007 Smart ForTwo

January 16, 2007 by Alborz Fallah

The all-new 2007 smart fortwo is now available to customers in Germany and from what we can gather, there has been no actual price rise with the new model. The new smart fortwo coupe and cabrio will arrive in European showrooms in April and will be available as both a coupé and a cabrio.

Australian customers will be able to enjoy the all-new innovative two-door when it arrives later this year.

The new smart fortwo coupé fitted with the 45 kW petrol engine is available in the pure equipment line at a price of € 9,490 in Germany, meaning that prices for Australian customers should also stay relatively the same (currently starting at $20,000 plus on roads). The innovative two-seater is available in Europe with a choice of two naturally aspirated petrol engine versions, delivering 45 or 52 kW, as well as a turbo petrol engine rated at 62 kW.

The diesel version, the smart fortwo cdi, has a power output of 33 kW with standard consumption of just 3.4 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions of just 90 grams per kilometre, the smart fortwo cdi shows it’s environmentally and socially and responsible as well as safe, fun and stylish.

Final Australian specifications and pricing for the successor to the original cult fortwo are to be announced later this year, but the European launch of the popular city car sends a strong indication to Australian buyers, many of whom are already inquiring about the new model.

2007 Smart ForTwo

The new smart fortwo can do everything that the current model can do – only better. This means that the new smart fortwo is even more comfortable, even more agile, even safer and even more environmentally friendly than its predecessor.
