Saab 9-4X goes on sale in the US

Saab has announced the first Saab 9-4X has just been sold in the US after recently being launched in the market. The all-new SUV is predicted to be a hot seller and a very important in boosting Saab's financial and brand recovery.

The new Saab 9-4X is a good-looking vehicle, showcasing tradition yet modern design lines and front-end details. Saab has announced up to 100 orders have already been placed on the new vehicle - not a bad initial figure considering the brand has only made 3471 total sales in the US so far this year.

According to a recent statement from Saab, the first buyer simply had a sit in the driver's seat of the 9-4X on show, glanced around, and then made the purchase. He didn't even need to take it for a drive around the block to be convinced. Tim Colbeck, President and COO Saab Cars North America, said:

"Our first vehicles are just hitting retailers and our first customer sale took place last weekend at Saab North Olmstead in Cleveland, Ohio. This is an exciting product, with a true Saab crossover that gives us entry into a new segment."

The Saab 9-4X is based on the Cadillac SRX and comes in two engine variants. The standard model comes with a 3.0-litre V6 producing 195kW and 305Nm of torque, while an Aero variant comes with a 2.8-litre turbocharged V6 producing 221kW and 400Nm of torque.

Prices in the US start from $34,205 for the standard model and $48,835 for the Aero.

The Saab 9-4X is expected to hit Australian showrooms later in the year. Prices and engines are yet to be finalised.
