Update: 2012 Toyota HiLux Review
More details of the new 2012 Toyota HiLux have been released as the model passes a sales milestone of 700,000 units in Australia. New features include an all-new look and ABS brakes as standard on all variants.
The Toyota HiLux is easily the best-selling utility in Australia at the moment, and frequently ranks inside the top three in the monthly VFACTS data. Toyota has now announced the popular model comes with added safety as standard.
From September this year, the new 2012 model year Toyota HiLux range will come with anti-lock brakes across the board (Toyota hasn’t mentioned if this will be tied up with an electronic stability control program). The new model will also be available in more variants, including new entry-level Workmate models, as well as offer visual revisions to the front and rear, and new seats and interior door trims throughout the range.
Here we see images of the new Toyota HiLux SR5. Toyota says everything from the base of the windscreen forward has been revised to suit Toyota’s latest design language, showcasing a three-tier chrome grille layout and new twin-element headlights. All 4×4 variants will also come with an uprated 2.5-tonne towing capacity.
David Buttner, Toyota Australia senior executive director of sales and marketing, recently spoke about the new model, saying,
“The latest changes will substantially improve the inherent value of HiLux for our customers and further cement its position as one of the country’s most reliable and most sought-after vehicles.”
The 2012 Toyota HiLux will go on sale in Australia in September this year.
