Lotus Evora revisions on the way, 298kW sports model planned

The Lotus Evora nameplate will exist in the British company's line-up for a few more years yet, with a new revised model currently being planned. The new Evora will be unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Lotus CEO, Dany Bahar, said the new model would get 147 changes, all of which will be aimed at improving the overall quality of the Evora. Bahar said in a recent Auto Express report, the "priority is to improve the quality, to give the car a soul".

The changes are likely to include a new interior with higher quality finishes and materials, a new exhaust creating a distinct sports car sound, and a slicker transmission.

Other changes include the introduction of new showroom variants. Lotus is planning a cabriolet version, which will share its roof mechanism technology with the upcoming Espirt carbrio, as well as a focused high-performance version.

The high-end sports version will feature a supercharged 3.5-litre V6 producing around 298kW of power. Reports say the model will have a similar focus as the Lotus Evora GT race car, only more suitable for the road.

In October, Lotus is also planning on unveiling a working hybrid Evora concept which will use two electric motors and a 1.2-litre three-cylinder hybrid powertrain. The ultra-fuel efficient model is set for release sometime in 2013.
