2012 Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Coupe Black spotted in garage

We've seen early spy shots and heard rumours and reports, but not until now have we seen the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series in full production trim.

This example was recently spotted at the Circuit Paul Ricard showcasing the full production-specified bodywork. The car is set to replace the previous Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series only it will be slightly less hardcore and it won't be restricted to a limited production run.

The AMG Coupe will feature back seats for starters, while the boffins at AMG have unweighted the car by only 20kg. Nonetheless, the Coupe Black will feature the popular 6.2-litre V8 engine producing 380kW of power and 640Nm of torque.

Using a Speedshift MCT seven-speed transmission, the Coupe Black is expected to accelerated from 0-100km/h in around four seconds dead. It will also come with vast revisions to the suspension setup for highly-focused sports handling, and an equally focused interior package.

Reports say the model will go on sale in Europe for €100,000, which is much less than the equivalent special edition BMW M3 GTS which retails for €137,000. Australian confirmation and pricing is yet to be finalised.
