Anything for the US market just needs to be "uglied up" to make it compliant. Witness the Pontiac (nee Holden) coupes.

Man you guys are brutal on the US market...is there a sense that we just get an inferior product...or that our tastes lack in comparison to the land down under and we are getting the cars we want?

Look Fact is Why would Ford Australia send Our Falcons Over to the yanks to put in anoth 10K worth of driver assist crap in it??? the reason for me to think this is that they have extended the Inline 6 for five more years for FPV to have a bit more fun with do you really think they'd send it over there to be toned down????....AND The reason Falcons have been spotted over there is because Ford Australia is trying to sell the platform to americans...Just like with the mazda 2 and th Ford Fiesta's

Dave T Says:
August 17th, 2008 at 4:29 pm

can somebody help!, i own a EF Fairmont 1995, it has a 5.0L Windsor engine, i checked its only 165kw and 388nm, how come my work car which is a new Falcon XT orion which has 195kw and 391nm is slower than my old 265000kms Fairmont?, somebody explain that to me, when my brother drove me Fairmont, i just couldnt overtake him or beat him at the lights? and i am 30kw short and 3nm short?

Hi Dave, probably a couple of reasons there, 1) the extra weight of a proper IRS and extra safety equipment etc in the FG.
2) Perhaps the FG hasn't run in yet???- might need 10000 on the clock before it frees up?
PS: Is the V8 stock? (if it was bought secondhand, then perhaps the previous owner fiddled with it?).
Cheers.

Plain AUs, particularly series 1, are pretty poor in the styling department. XRs much better.

The TS50 and TE50 look fantastic, still look better than many cars today. So you can't lump all AUs in the same boat.

That's like saying a Calais-V (or all VEs) look crap because of the Omega.

Rob,
The guy that designed the AU also designed the FG, one was too adventurous the other a bit conservative, but both have and will date better than many other designs.
