Man you guys are brutal on the US market...is there a sense that we just get an inferior product...or that our tastes lack in comparison to the land down under and we are getting the cars we want?

Look Fact is Why would Ford Australia send Our Falcons Over to the yanks to put in anoth 10K worth of driver assist crap in it??? the reason for me to think this is that they have extended the Inline 6 for five more years for FPV to have a bit more fun with do you really think they'd send it over there to be toned down????....AND The reason Falcons have been spotted over there is because Ford Australia is trying to sell the platform to americans...Just like with the mazda 2 and th Ford Fiesta's

Dave T Says:
August 17th, 2008 at 4:29 pm

can somebody help!, i own a EF Fairmont 1995, it has a 5.0L Windsor engine, i checked its only 165kw and 388nm, how come my work car which is a new Falcon XT orion which has 195kw and 391nm is slower than my old 265000kms Fairmont?, somebody explain that to me, when my brother drove me Fairmont, i just couldnt overtake him or beat him at the lights? and i am 30kw short and 3nm short?

Hi Dave, probably a couple of reasons there, 1) the extra weight of a proper IRS and extra safety equipment etc in the FG.
2) Perhaps the FG hasn't run in yet???- might need 10000 on the clock before it frees up?
PS: Is the V8 stock? (if it was bought secondhand, then perhaps the previous owner fiddled with it?).
Cheers.

Plain AUs, particularly series 1, are pretty poor in the styling department. XRs much better.

The TS50 and TE50 look fantastic, still look better than many cars today. So you can't lump all AUs in the same boat.

That's like saying a Calais-V (or all VEs) look crap because of the Omega.

Rob,
The guy that designed the AU also designed the FG, one was too adventurous the other a bit conservative, but both have and will date better than many other designs.

And remember to boost the power steering to stupid levels of assistance (can't have anyone breaking their little finger whilst trying to steer the thing) and of course, they've left off the bridge girders that pass for bumper bars in the US these days. I quite like the "what if" cgi speculation *occasionally*. It gives the creative brain cells some exercise...

Yep truly ugly, similar ugly look they shoved on the Focus.

Of course Ford will have to remove the shockers and replace them with jelly to remove any resemblance to decent handling, then install extra wiiiiiide seats to get the Big Mac arses in.

Come on lets have some real news.

IMO a very pointless thread... anyway i think that the yanks would love the falcon due to a recent trend in large rwd cars(charger, g8) and i agree the 3 grill styling is used in a lot of US ford vehicles so would probally go down well with them

I thought the FG Falcon would need a 3-Bar grill if it went to the US market. However, I think it would need a better Headlight shape to fit in with the 3-Bar grill, this CGI looks a little ugly. Nice xenon bulbs though!

This CGI not a pretty one! i saw the new FG Falcon on the road in Melbourne near a ford dealership - on nepean highway and must say it does look nice! it was silver.

from the front this CGI reminds me a little bit of renault laguna - those silver things on the bonnet really remind me of a renault....
