I dont know why there is so much intense arguing between Ford and Holden. I’m a Ford fan, and even I can say that the VE Clubsports, R8’s or whatever they are…. Are pretty damn good and look nice. All this slagging at each other is just hilarious. Both the new Fords and Holdens look practically identical inside, the only difference is that the Ford dash has blue lights and Holden has red ones.

The great i6 wont be with us much longer, why could they not give it direct injection and perhaps lower the displacement a bit? As the direct injection would virtually make up for the power lost by the displacement lowering (Disclaimer: you’d think).

The Duratec 35 is a 3.5 L (3496 cc/213 in³) V6 that began production in fall 2006 and is the first member of the all-new Ford Cyclone engine family. [1] The D35 is an all-aluminum DOHC 4V 60° bank angle V6 engine with variable cam timing on the intake camshafts and DAMB tappets. The Duratec 35 is ULEV-II compliant and is said to be capable of meeting the PZEV requirement as well.

The Duratec 37 a 3.7 L (3721 cc/227 in³) V6 and the second and newest member of the Ford Cyclone engine family. The Duratec 37s additional displacement over the Duratec 35 is achieved through a 3 mm increase in bore diameter which results in a 95.5 mm (3.76 in) bore.

The engine began production in the 2008 Mazda CX-9 under Mazda’s MZI moniker and produces 273 hp (204 kW) at 6,250 rpm and 270 lb·ft (366 N·m) at 4,250 rpm.

These Cars look awesome esepcially that dark blue GT-P, it really looks the part – mean and aggressive, imagine that in your revision mirror. Although that looks the part the F6 is deffinetley in a class of it own and should put FPV in a very good position with the recent power wars with HSV. A pitty they couldn’t get times, would have been great to see the times on the F6, I am hoping low 12’s for 1/4 mile.

I know Richo is referring to me, and trying to get people on his side, but no. Just..no.

I wouldn’t buy either, because they’re both wastes of money, but as I said, Ford have definately put in more effort. Have you driven the new HSV and the new FPV, Richo? No? Hm. Funny that.

Am I not allowed to like neither, but respect one? Oh, I forgot, that you Holden drivers, for some reason or another, think you know everything, and drive the best cars in the world. No, you dont. Not by far.

hey Roudy………wouldn’t talk too loud we hired a VE Statesman for the last 6 days and my 14 year old picked the bag out of it compared to the last BF……like those stupid tacky pull out pockets and the gap in the fan surround the rear vent system,50/50 I think.

They all looks stupid, They don’t look any good,

And then as i was moving down the GTE comes to my attention, This is the pick on looks alone it towers over the rest easy.
I really like the look it’s so much in tune with the way i like cars.

Anyone notice the large gap between the door trim and dash?.
Actually the closer you get in with pics the high res ones you see the command centre is surrounded by the same plastics in my Calais?. Look closely.

Not again TP, the corolla is number one for fleets,rentals etc the overwhelming majority of corolla’s private buyers are 45+ rather largish women. outside of that demographic I can only think the private buyer might be “lured” by corolla’s phallically suggestive centre console and gearstick placement TP,does this mean that corolla drivers literaly have their hand on it?

Mazda is top of the pops for the well informed user chooser car purchaser.

Back to the FPV’s. I’m liking the rear mounted brake calipers. Do we know whether the manual 6 will have launch control?

I am neither a holden or ford man but can clearly see and read all the facts above. FVP vs HSV, Ford wins hands down on both style and performace.
Ford also has a far stronger product range ie. Feista,Focus. Holden are digging their own grave with a
cheap and nasty Daewoo range.
Go TP you excitment machine with your radically awesome Corolla. I can just picture you now all jazzed up in your latest cream cordoroy jacket with your hair greased back with brill cream on your way to square dancing lessons.

On ya TP. WTF does the hopelessly boring Corolla have to do with FPV???
Oh to hell with it- no point delaying the inevitable.
Falcon V6 will need direct injection end of story; Maybe then it will come close to the 4.0 in terms of torque. Direct Acting Mechanical Buckets seem to be the engine’s trump card too.
Can anybody explain why direct injection is more expensive to implement? What so expensive about putting the injectors in a different position?
And as a concession to staying on topic; when do roadtests of these monsters begin?
