It will be here last quarter of this year. It will be called the Insignia. All Sedan Wagon and Hatch will be available. Not all engines will make it here. There most (90%) likely will be a HSV VXR version. It will be ALOT better than the epica.. (Not that hard mind you)
It will be a good car but not as cheap as the Epica. It might kill commodore sales which is the flip side.

Cant wait to get one...

Also to those people that say this will replace the epica, it wont. The epica is made in south korea and is a 6 cyc, while the insignia or new vectra is a 4 cyc and made in germany.

Both are two completely different cars and will be sold to seperate markets.

This is the base model for the insignia so does not look as sporty as the upper models. I have seen all the pictures for each model and their specifications. To all those people asking whether or not it will be coming to australia, it will be, in the 3rd qt of 2009. The models include the base model (forgot the name) "sport" model, and the cosmo model (which is the top of the range).

Engine sizes are a 2.0 litre petrol engine, also with a turbo. There is also a 2.0 lt diesel engine with three different power specificiations.

Overall does look like a very nice car, and will be getting one myself. Other models do look alot different from this picture and improves its sporty appearance.

Even though the holden epica was only a trial (people learn from their mistakes) hopefully the vectra will make a break throgh and might replace the heap of junk. They done a very good job with the interior and the front face lift (looks like the shadows of the BMW series 3) BUT the back lift does look a bit awkward and thats might keep the sales of holden low unless they go back to the scribbling stages and revamp it for either the sedan or possibly a second series to come out in the future!

Weather-wise, No Name, low twenties with occasional water falling from the sky. Tonight's going to be about 9. This winter, I'm going to buy my first pair of ugg boots since my teens, just to protect myself against the cold rising from the floor boards of this new (very old) house of mine.

If not a Camry, the car in these photos could well be the new, say, Avensis, which we don't get here. Yes, it seems a few other posters see some Toyota lines in this as well.

Enjoy your long, hot summer :)

Hi Golfie - Hows Perth Today - Coolor than here at the mo's my guess. 28degC here. Its a flaming miracle...

Take the Opel badge off it could be nearly anything from Japan. Huuuge over hangs. Looks a bit of a lardyarse. Still i'll wait til its in the flesh before I disregard it. Would consider a 4WD Estate.

Right with you, No Name. Compare a Discovery or Range Rover with the latest Landcruiser. Which one looks like it came out yesterday? RR or Disco - take your pick. Which one looks like it's been around 5 or 6 years? Mmm mmm.

Tp much like some Toyotas on the market.
I agree generally with the comments about the better looking sedan. Whats the Estate (Wagon) going to look like?
And I sorta agree with JP (1st comment), It will be too much competition for the VE in size and purchase cost to make it competative. Holden woould be better off putting a smaller engine in the Commie.

well if the insignia is going to underpin the next gen epica i higly doubt it (the insignia) will be coming to our shores. im sure its a quality euro gm car. throw that together with the cheap consturction costs of the koreans and holden may have a winner.

I really don't like this thing. It's really blobby and the L thing on the side is positively contrived. It's a bit soft looking, especially compared to the striking Accord Euro, Mazda 6 and Mondeo. Headlights aren't too good either, just doesn't flow whatsoever.

This Insignia is going to the base of the next Epica anyway, so hopefully the Epica will be a much better car.
But I reckon in white, this Insignia looks like cross between a Camry and the Mazda 6...

wad a failure of design! The hatch looks horrendous compared to the svelte sedan. Holden reallly shouldnt bother with this model and just bring the gorgeous sedan.

The first picture looks very Toyota Camry like, although the back looks better.

Holden could bring it out to oz but it would never sell. People just aren't willing to pay a premium price for a 4-cylinder Holden.
