  1. Duck says:

Na……..still prefer SV6 Ute for the LOOKS!

  2. Nige says:

Ford really have done a Porsche with the new falcon, it looks too much like the old one, only thing is the old one is a better looking car. Holden ute looks TOUGH – this looks like junk…

  3. Glen says:

The Holden ute looks dated compared to this.

  4. Duck says:

    ^Yeah what ever Glen!

  5. Duck says:

The commodore looks as new as the FG Ute does or better!

  6. acfsambo says:

The Cab Chassis looks awesome. The sidebox style is good but not brilliant (though i still prefer it over the Commodore)

  7. Ford G Series says:

I like very much very good looking Ford, you Holden fans are tosser’s, hows your extra service intervals going, I bet it’s putting a dent in your wallets…

  8. Andrew M says:

    Duck,
the VE ute has no body lines to it.
    this looks slick and modern.

why cant you option sat nav when you have an alloy tray?
    does it interfere?

  9. Fred says:

I’ve seen one of these on the road before (maybe a test vehicle) and it doesn’t look as bulky as the VE ute. But you guys are right, the FG looks a lot like the BF, which may turn off some buyers.

  10. KJ says:

Hey, I just noticed the XR6 rims look a lot like those from the latest Focus Zetec.

Regarding the FG looking like the BF, I think this applies more to the XR series due to the front of the car looking similar. I’ve seen a few of the G-Series on the road and it is very obvious that it’s the FG. By the way, they look pretty nice :)

  11. EscortGhia says:

duck the ve looks like crap unless its an ss the flared guards(i beleve this is 2008 not 1975.) are to much where the FG has nice clean lines

  12. PoisonEagle says:

The VE sedan looks frumpy compared to FG, but the ute and wagon are GORGEOUS! Whether or not Ford has a more convincing package is known only to those who have seen it in real life, as the FG does not portray itself well in photos. BTW= XR8 should have similar manifold cover to VT HSV with 8 pipes (it looks this way in cropped photos and is disappointing when clicked) .
I can’t see why the FG will fail. It looks smaller than it’s rivals- and there is still obviously a market for large cars. Anybody who dismisses that fact should know that Aussie large cars are still among the best sellers. Tojophiles need not apply- we all know your opinion- get real!

  13. PoisonEagle says:

TP/ DingoViolator in advance- Go fondle your cardigans.

  14. Golfschwein says:

Still looks chopped down the middle, just like its predecessor.

  15. What I really like too is “NO” tiedowns on tonneau cover on side of body across board. This will appeal!

  16. Glen says:

Duck go have a look at the photo shoot that drive.com.au did with the SSV and tell me the VE doesn’t look dated sitting next to FG.

Plus the interior of all VE’s was dated before it was even released, it feels like your driving a bigger Astra. I can’t comment on the FG yet as haven’t driven one but on 1st impressions is looks a lot more modern. At least we can agree on 1 thing, they’re both a lot more interesting than Aurion/Camry.

  17. Golfschwein says:

I’m definitely on-side with the Commodore in the looks department. This car’s done in two halves – the front half and the back half. I don’t do gashes.

  18. PoisonEagle says:

    I do :)

  19. Duck says:

    I agree Golfschwein!

I also think that the FG ute, mostly XR6 and up look too similar to its older model the BF!

  20. Ford G Series says:

Looks better than the Holden VE by a country mile, Duck I suggest you see the G series in the flesh and drive one, but you probably won’t, cause that would go beyond your (I LOVE HOLDEN TOO MUCH) comfort zone…

  21. Duck says:

Ford G Series, Ok show me some pictures of a G sereis ford. i havent seen one yet!

  22. Ford G Series says:

They are on TV now,, advertisements for G Series..

    Go Ford !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. Andrew M says:

    Duck,
you havent even seen a photo of a G series falcon yet???

well why are you so quick to pass judgement?

i think “ford G series” summed it up with the comfort zone comment

  24. Duck says:

Hey andrew m go to the Falcon XT article and answer my question!

  25. Andrew M says:

ok duck ill duck over there once ive scanned through the ute articles.
i dont avoid peoples questions, i just dont have time to scour through the archive on this site

  26. Duck says:

Its just not like you to not go back and tell people something and not to see if they have responded. Thats all. Because you do most of the time, go back and check.

  27. Andrew M says:

    sorry mate,
that one must have fallen off the radar.
my excitment has turned to the utes now.

but my bloody dealer tells me i have to wait until june to get my ute GGRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

  28. Tristan says:

It’s very silly looking single tail pipe. I”m very very much a ford man but but i love the symmetry on the VE utes. the back end looks a lots better even the base VE manual has dual pipe. FORD NEED TO DO DUAL AND QUAD exughst pipes. Also moving the number plate onto the tail gate would be a nice change to. FG sedan=winner! as for ute not too sure.

  29. Scott says:

new turbo xr6 ute will blow ss into the weeds. holden poofs

  30. Duck says:

^I very much Disagree WITH YOU SCOTT!

  31. yoooot says:

I do agree that it does look a little similar to the BA series but i reckon it still looks awesome. It rocks it over the holdens in looks and there is another thing that makes it better, THERE IS NO LION BADGE ON IT THAT NEEDS TO BE TAMED.

  32. TOMMY says:

FG looks heaps better than the VE, the interior is so much more modern, 290kw instead of 270 but agree quad pipes would look so much better. had a BF XR6 its got nothing on the FG XR8.

  33. ve ute says:

Of course the BF xr6 has nothing on the fg xr8, its a new 8 cylinder numnuts.

Test drove both the ford and holden, cant get an 8 as im on my p’s. Holden has it as far as the looks department goes, the ford feels like it drives faster, but the holden is cheaper and easyier to mod.

I went with the holden, and no regrets.

    Gimme a sv6 anyday.
