Aston Martin Rapide sets off on tour of Alaska

By Karl Peskett |

Aston Martin will showcase the durability of its four-door sportscar, the Rapide, by embarking on a tour of the northernmost state of the USA today.

American motoring scribe, Patrick Paternie, will bring the Rapide from Anchorage to Prudhoe Bay, right into the Arctic Circle, in a 1980km round trip.

Using the Dalton Highway, the Rapide will be subject to freezing temperatures and will test not only the robustness of its 6.0-litre V12 and six-speed ZF automatic, but also its stability control systems and its weatherproofing.

The trip will take three days and will showcase the versatility of the British marque – with Rapides being sent to as diverse climates as cold Alaska and boiling Dubai.

Julian Jenkins, Vice President and General Manager Aston Martin – The Americas – said, “Since its launch, the Rapide has been popular with customers looking for an exclusive sports car with a combination of exhilarating performance, handcrafted style, and added four-door practicality. The Rapide is the ideal car to make Aston Martin’s first exciting drive through Alaska in comfort, style and ease.”

Saw one of these in the flesh in Amsterdam last week.
It was a champagne gold finish and looked AMAZING.

Such a beautiful piece of automotive tech.

Not sure about this trip through Alaska though. Flog it around the outback…..thats probably just as pointless actually.
