Back in September I wrote a little bit about the Nissan Qashqai and today its been confirmed that the Qashqai (stop trying to pronounce it, its Cash-Kay not qouch-kai) will go on sale in Europe in Feb next year with a potential release date of 2008 in Australia.

“Obviously we would like to bring it in, if it’s a success, it will arrive about 12 months after its launch in February in the UK.” said Nissan Motor Company Australia spokesman Karl Gehling

So will it still be called Qashqai? I really doubt it. After the Tiida incident I think Nissan are really skeptical of letting marketing graduates name their vehicles. Nissan so far is not too concerned about a name and options are still open. So will it sell? Its hard to say, I think the car look superb, and if it carries Nissans reputation for reliability and quality, I am sure it will be a worthy contender.
