2012 Renault Koleos facelift on sale in Australia late-2011

By Tim Beissmann |

The 2012 Renault Koleos facelift has been previewed in India ahead of its international launch later this year.

Indian Autos Blog snapped the first two images of the refreshed Koleos, which is understood to be a global design and not simply one specific to the subcontinent.

Renault Australia’s Emily Ambrosy confirmed a revised version of the Koleos would go on sale locally late in the fourth quarter of this year.

As we can see from the images, the front of the new Koleos will be heavily revised. The headlights will lose their sharp lines and adopt a rounder appearance. The larger one-piece three-slat grille will replace the more pointed snout of the outgoing model.

It appears the rear design will carry over largely unchanged.

Interior images are yet to be revealed, although we expect some small design tweaks to refresh the cabin.

Specific powertrain details are still a secret. The Australian line-up currently offers customers plenty of choice, with petrol and diesel engines, front- and all-wheel drive models, and six-speed manual, six-speed automatic and continuously variable transmission options.

The first-generation Koleos was launched in Australia in September 2008 and was upgraded in May 2010.

Despite being priced competitively ($28,490-$43,990) it remains a niche player in the compact SUV segment, with just a 0.5 percent share of the market so far this year.

    Yaaaaaawwwwwwwnn NEXT!

  • Mad Max

To my eyes its an improvement but it does look a little like a Hyundai from the front.

    • Henry

They are built in korea though so that would explain why…

It just looks like a Dualis at the front!

I used to really like the Koleos – it’s clever features and good amount of room were outstanding for the price. The lack of a diesel manual/4×4 manual means it’s lost it’s appeal to me. And now this facelift…

The grill matches in with the LAtitude and Fluence sedans
and takes Koleos from the older megane sedan/hatch grill.
    Do I like it …….

Looks like the Infinity SUV- maybe thats either same designer for Nissan.

  • nickdl

    Looks Chinese from the front…

  • Vibe

    Dualis much?

  • Kueps

looks good… less polarising design than the current one and now seems to align with the other new models launched by Renault lately. In terms of value for money the Koleos does present a pretty compelling case against other small to medium SUV’s.

It does nothing for me. The current model looks better and it is rather gawky. Perhaps it looks better in the flesh, it would need to.
