2008 Peugeot 207 HDi Touring Review

You see, the engine might be underpowered and perhaps slightly inadequate when the car is loaded with five passengers, but everything else about the car is bliss. For under $30k I simply can’t recommend a better car for a small family.
Driving the car around for a week made me realise two things. One, you’d have to be mad to buy an equivalent Japanese car for 3-5k less, even if it does have a little more power, and two, people can’t help but to stare.
I think the problem facing Peugeot currently is that many potential buyers are simply put off by the European badge – thinking it’s too expensive without even asking.
I quizzed every single one of my passengers how much they thought the car was worth and figures came back anywhere between 40 to 60. Not one single person guessed around the 30k mark!
If you can make a car for under 30k that looks like its worth nearly twice that, I think you’ve done a good job.
What a dog-ugly car! I never thought any car maker would actually make a car uglier then Ssangyong’s cars!!! Yes it might be a good car underneath, but that doesn’t make up for those looks not even a mother could love…

its a beautiful car, very stylish and very modern, we don’t all want to drive around in plain and boring cars – well, some do.
Well done to Peugeot for such a gorgeous car. Style and class for less than 30k, yes please!
Hmm..looks r questionable, but the package seems very well priced, how does it compare to the Citroen models?
id have to say good looking personally but i dont think you can use the same word that people use to describe Aston Martins Rober C.
Beautiful car? Did you look at it? look at those angles and edgy design… I didn’t say it wasn’t unique and different, that it is, but beatiful it’s not! But I guess often in this world quirky things end up being seen as pretty simply because some people think they are fashionable, not because they are actually pretty… Take Tom Hanks for example. He’s not goodlooking, but just cause he’s famous, some women would actually consider sleeping with him… similar case with Peugeots these days… just another queer car that’s not for the straight eye…
Its not ugly, just odd looking.

Well looks aside, as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I personally love the look.
I own a petrol 207 touring and I could not be happier. I cannot speak for the diesel but the BMW 1.6 in mine does the job well. Only when she is carrying 5 people and with the aircon on full does she struggle. I agree 100% with this review and my only gripe would be the tiny glove box that all Peugeots seem to suffer from at the moment.
This car handles like a dream, loads of space, very nimble and I have not ran out of cargo room yet. I live in the country and venture in the city often and I find this car a pleasure to love with. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a brilliant small family car that runs on the smell of an oily rag.
Does air con and power steering need to be listed as standard equipment these days
I mean “live with” but with the seats down my typo still applies.
I for one agree that it’s a beautiful looking car. I love the front ends of the new Peugeots, I actually think the 207 hatch is the best looking hatch currently on the market.

This sure is fugly, and it’s French too. 2 perfect reasons to look elsewhere for a car. I30 shits all over this. Hell, even the Nissan thing is better.
If there is a small wagon at this price, with this much kit, which goes around corners as well as the 207 HDi Touring, then I’ll have two!
As far as the styling goes, its ultra modern and grows on you but don’t let that stop you buying a car which very few can compete with on any level whatsoever.
Well, beauty’s in the eye of the beholder. Something can be challenging to look at and still be done right. That’s the 207.
Or it can be done wrong. That’s the Ssangyong.
I like Peugeot but maybe that’s because I own one. I’m not sure of the styling of this and there is a mention of the lack in power but one thing Pugs are good at and that is handling. As long as it handles well you can still have fun with it while being practical at the same time.
Fabio looks are extremely subjective, to some it may look ugly to others it could be the most beautiful car they have ever seen. Anyways not everything is about looks, some people my be unsightly but i’m pretty sure they have an awesome personality. Same goes with the 207 it may not look that great (in your perspective) but it has great fuel economy and is a neat package. Never judge a book by its cover.
I think it looks great… Peugeot have done a great job of adding some flair to a bland and utilitarian genre.
Anyone staring at this thing are probably more stunned at its ugliness than anything else. This is plain awful in the looks department.
And just out of interest, can some current Peugeot owners tell us how their finding the build quality of their vehicles? I’ve heard some pretty bad experiences in the past regarding dodgy Peugeot build quality and know someone with a rattly 5 year old Peugeot that causes them a fair bit of grief. Don’t know whether things have changed of late, but would be interested to know.
IMO the french, particularly Peugeot/Citroen, are way out in front with styling, yes it can be hit or miss at times but they c9ontinually push the threshold where Ford and GM do not.
THis little pug I think is super, great styling reasonable performance and not too dear. Sure to be a winner with the cost conscious buyer. Bear in ind the fule savings alone will buy this car. If its too small then buy the 308.
The thing is, with the French, their designs age well. Japanese cars look hot now, then in three years look pants. They age disgracefully.
My 405 Mi16 still gets head turns. My FIAT Punto will still look refreshing when I roll up in 10 years time next to the next abomination of a Corolla at the lights.
All Euro cars are like that. Same goes for classic Citroens too. A fine example the C6 is. I’d buy that over any BMW or Merc if I was looking in the $100K+ ballpark.
People who knock pugs haven’t driven one.
The BMW-PSA 1.6L Turbo just won the engine of the year in its class. The petrol model of this car has the BMW engine without the turbo. Yet no reviewer ever looks at the petrol touring????

My husband and I bought a standard 207 a few months ago and we couldn’t be happier but in retrospect we should have waited for this one.
Na…………sorry! The exterior is very questionable! The rear is as ugly as hell! The front isnt ugly but i am seriously starting to hate Peugeots NEW big ugly frog grill! Only good 2 things i like about it is nice interior (way better than external if u know what i mean!) and the price.
Now i know peugeot and holden are not in the same class(the only similarities are that they both have lion badges) but would u save money to buy a bigger load holder like a Omega Sportswagon or ^ this?
Duck do I even have to explain how dumb you sound. 40k+ petrol guzzler compared to a 29K Frugal small wagon??????????

seriously anyone who calls a pug ugly then says buy an omega doesnt warrant credibility. and the look of the pugs do age very well as someone else stated. the 206 still looks better than almost all cars in its class, nearly 8-9 years on??!! an I30?? while its a good car, its main claim is it now looks more like a european car. you can put your I30 next to my 207 any day and you will get laughed at.

By the way Jimbo the commodore wagon (omega) is 37 and a half K not 40K+!
Oh, well Duck, then I guess your right buddy. $7K+ more and all that extra petrol and the higher depreciation of the larger car. Well then I gues you will be saving money.
In opposite world anyway. I guess for that 3% of the time you will need that extra space, boy will you be laughing.

I know what your getting at, and I understand. However this car is not only about luggage space. Although for a car its size it has heaps.
It is more about the ride, handling, style(like it or not) and the economy. It is built for Europe. Like it or not, I think Australia is on a one way down hill track to Europes petrol prices. And when that day comes I think Australian’s will feel very differently about cars like this one. I know I do, I don’t cringe when I pay for my petrol anymore. And in my case. I havn’t run out of lauggage space yet.
The only thing stopping me from buying this car is the glass roof. I wish this was an option. Fair skin, Australian summers and glass roof don’t mix.
Guppy. To the best of my knowledge, the glass roof comes with a blind.
It does come with a blind, I just wish they had the option of a normal roof. Not sure if the glass will heat up the car more than a regular roof.
Guppy. I have one and the Glass roof surprisingly does not heat the car up in summer the blind does a great job.
I have even had the blind back on a 35+ degree day with the aircon on medium strength and the car was nice and cool. Plus the windows are tinted so I didn’t get sun burned either.
Space? Who needs space?
Get yourself a Peugeot 207 RC and you’ll see what bliss is. And it’s fairly cheap, at least here in Lisbon, Portugal ,Europe.
I’m getting one to replace my Toyota Auris.. which btw, I really like.. great quality, but unfortunately, just not fun.
